Newcastle have joined the race to sign David Rozehnal, the Czech Republic defender.
Rozehnal, who plays for Paris Saint Germain, is the subject of a bid from Borussia Dortmund, but his representatives have now confirmed Newcastle's interest.
The 26-year-old has been a rock at the heart of the PSG defence for the past two years since joining from Club Brugge.
Race to sign Rozenhal hotting up apparently, although he's hardly 'a rock' in our defence.
Hopefully this means more money as Newcastle have never been shy about getting out the checkbook.

Marouane Fellaini (19, Belgian international), a defensive midfielder, has terminated his contract with Standard Liege. Several clubs are rumored to be interested including ASSE, Lens, and of course, PSG. The youngster has already expressed his own interest in joining paris, citing Le Guen and the club's history and reputation (« C’est grand. Paris reste Paris » ).
Cisse also can be on the way out... to Besiktas Istanbul. Celal Kolot - recruiting director for the turkish side - has already been in paris for two days. According to the writer of the article, one of his contacts inside PSG has revealed that the club will be willing to sit down and talk with anyone about anyone if the offer is good enough - in spite of contracts.
Sammy Traore might also head out to Besiktas as well!
Hooray, good transfer season so far. Traore isn't good enough at all, and well everyone knows what a mediocre player Cisse is.

he's been linked in the french press too...
honestly i don't know the first thing about the guy... is he worth it? 3 million pounds isn't chump change
I'd take Ł3m for him now.
He was good in the early part of the season but when he isn't interested in playing (which is most of the time it seems) then he's not worth having.
In our local newspaper his agent also says clubs in Italy, Spain and other clubs in England are also interested.

Ł3m for Camara is a good deal I think, even though he does turn 30 this year. He's a better player than Kalou, I believe.
I'll admit I know almost nothing about this Standard Liege guy. Though, really, don't you all have enough defensive midfielders with Clement, Mulumbu, Chantome, and Cisse? Though if a couple of them leave, then alright, it makes sense.

Cisse will most likely leave. Or at least he really should because he's not a leader in the midfield. There were a couple rumors that Mulumbu interested some english teams looking to pick off good young talent, so the possibility that he might leave is there (ManUtd, probably Arsenal).
If we're going to make a recruit in midfield, he needs to be experienced and be capable of helping Clement develop. A nineteen year old from belgium, who honestly seems to me like a bit of a brat given that he forced Standard to terminate the contract, doesn't exactly fill this need.
As for Camara, as long as he can get up to 20 goals a season, then he's worth looking at.
Hellebuyck looks to be heading out given that he's never made headway into the team. Possible destinations include Manchester City, Middlesbrough, or Racing Santander.
PLG took the chance to observe the Bleuets in action against Romania. Among the team include young talents such as Didier Digard (Le Havred), Blaise Matuidi (Troyes) and Yoan Gouffran (Caen). Paris has been following the latter for quite some time already, as have other clubs like OM and OL.

Contracts:
Apparently, Armand's extension was simply a proposal and never a concrete agreement. Cayzac will probably try to meet with him soon. Some clubs that are interested in him include Lazio and Lyon. Moreover, his agent has issued the not-so-mysterious statement that "there are things that one simply does not refuse.."
Luyindula (like Armand) has stated that he wants to stay, but requires some reassurance, which the club has not given yet. Some interested clubs include Bolton, Schalke, and Bayern.

Don't forget Baning too.

Right, good point. That makes, well, 4 defensive midfielders on the roster at the moment, so it definitely makes sense for a couple to leave.
About the Bleuets that had been mentioned, I think Digard and Matuidi are solid, though not spectacular, players. Both of them deserve to be in L1 and are already capable of starting I think for more than a few teams.

I was originally against bringing in an expensive "star" player. But one has to consider that this is Makelele and not some flakey attacker that'll drop out quickly. Even at 34/35, he's performing at a high level for Chelsea and at the rate players go nowadays, I think his fitness and experience will give him a good 3-4 years. Cheaper solutions are out there, but I don't think that they are better solutions. At the end of the day, he's a genuinely world-class player and bringing him in, IMO, will have the equally important effect of developing and benefitting our young midfielders (clement, chantome).
in any case, as much as I would like to have him at Paris, i don't think the transfer is very likely,
Class is indeed permanent, isn't it? Makelele was simply having a walk in the park against Ukraine yesterday.

I don't remember him being that reckless of a player - mendy and roze probably gave up many more freekicks - but primarily i'd say we want to sell him because he cannot shield our defense well enough to play for paris. At times, it would seem like he isn't even on the field to put in the slightest challenge as the backline are ripped apart by counter after counter. His range and quality of passing is also never positive as he consistently loses balls in the middle and our half of the pitch. His attitude isn't great either (along with Mendy and Kalou).

Some more transfer news...
PLG is looking for a forward to add to the pedro-peguy partnership. Unfortunately, according to mercato365, we shouldn't be expecting any names of note: "En effet, après avoir rêvé de Johan Elmander (Toulouse) et Aruna Dindane (Lens), le PSG vise plus « petit » "
Some names that are being floated around include
1) Jimmy Briand (21, Rennes), who is being followed by a host of clubs in addition to PSG, such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Porto, Lens, Marseille, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne
2) André-Pierre Gignac (23, Lorient), but PLG doesn't seem too enthusiastic.
3) Lasse Nilsson (25, Heerenveen) seems to interest the club a lot, who were connected with the swedish forward already beforehand. Nilsson himself seemed open to the possibility but PSG has competition from other clubs, notably PSV Eindhoven.
Other rumors include the belgian François Sterchel (GB Anvers), and the 24 year old turkish striker Gökhan Unal (Kayserispor). Rennes have already made an offer of 3.5 million euros for the latter.
Roze seems to interest Newcastle a great deal - Big Sam was at the match between Wales and the Czech Republic to observe him in action.

I don't know why any team would want (Edouard) Cissé. Except if they're attempting to make an all-Cissé team, in which case the only reason why Edouard would make that team is because I can't think of more than 9 other Cissés that are better. If I were Besiktas, I'd be going after Djibril or Sekou Cissé instead.
Then again, an all-Diarra team wouldn't be bad, in midfield, anyway.
Gökhan Ünal is decent. I think I'd rather have Henri Camara, though.

why peguy? along with diane, he's been one of our better recruits up front ever since his arrival - certainly our attack has really benefitted from his ability to hold up the ball and pass it around with his back to goal.
I prefer Yepes to Rozenhal - while its true that he's not solely at fault for all the goals we conceded, but his marking and aerial ability in the box are fairly awful (not as bad as Mendy though, for sure), and his penchant for giving away freekicks in bad positions hurts us.
Good news about Armand, we've made an extension offer that he hopefully will accept this week

To tell you the truth, I was upset to see that yepes was put on the transfer list... players like kalou, mendy and cisse have said their byebyes for me and i have already imagined next year's team w/ out them... but yepes to me has done a great job in the back and the armand - rozenhal - yepes trio was real solid...
and to tell you the truth, if we can afford makelele, i would not hesitate in bringing him on board... anybody know how much he would cost to get from chelsea? the other prob is his salary which will prob be similar or around Pauleta's (around 4 MM euros)...

Quire frankly I really want to see who Le Guen will sign. I trust him, and I will stand by the decisions he makes.
One of my hopes though is that he revamps the center of midfield. I hope Cisse leaves, Clement starts along with Rothen on the left. But then who would be RCM and RM? Hopefully Baning could start with Kalou on the right wing. Then up front we could have Luyindula, with a forward that is yet to be named...
The last hope I would have would be to buy a good central defender who can help our defensive stablity.
