I would prefer to sell Yepes and keep Rozehnal

But as long as we keep Armand, we should be okay

^ Good news, Armand is negotiating with the board to extend his contract until 2012.

As for Pauleta, he says he wants to see out his contract and then retire. The contract itself ends in 2008 (i think), so the club will probably let him go after that.

Damn well I wish Pauleta the best in Paris

Armand extended his contract for another 2 yrs today :) ...

Pauleta has made it clear he will play one last yr and retire at the end of 2008... he'll go back to the acores and plans to start doing some charity work but has also mentioned that he would want to be an ambassador or possibly work for PSG in the future... MERCI PAULETA MERCI PAULETA MERCI!

PSG: towards a new issue of capital? (31/05/2007)
25 million euros: it is the sum which the three shareholders of Paris-SG (Colony Capital, Butler Capital Partners and Morgan Stanley) should reinject in the capital of the club before next 30 June. According to the Team of Thursday, the three entities will subscribe to it to equal shares. (By Patrick Juillard)

25 million will help to assure the club's future success, but only if the club doesn't throw it away as it usually does.

Case in point...

PSG has officially made an offer to Chelsea to bring in Claude Makelele on a 190,000 euro-a-week, two year contract. Other clubs like Villarreal have also expressed interest, while offering him a higher wage (~230,000 euros).

Makelele would be HUGE

he'll be very expensive, but the youngsters on the team will get a chance to learn from the very best. Even if he's 34, he's still awesome in the premiership, which means he'll own everyone in Ligue 1 :D

and if cisse gets the boot, then all the better

You meant 190,000 euro-a-month, right? Because if not, that is an absurd amount of money.

oops I indeed meant per month..! Maybe Football Manager left an imprint on my brain from all the wage options :D

How screwed up are things when a club like Villareal can offer more money than a club like PSG. That just isnt right. The system is unfair.

I think Makelele would be useless to us for that amount of money (knowing we don't even want to offer a raise to Armand)
Unless if we get rid of some other players, such as Gallardo and Cisse'.
Who apparently might sign at Besiktas, for an annual salary of 1.3m E! I don't care if it's Turkey, he better get on the next flight to Istanbul, nobody is ever going to offer him that much money. Certainly not us.

No it ain't. They made the Champions League Semifinal last season, and have one of the best upcoming teams in the world.

PSG by reputation is one of the best clubs in the world, but hasn't shown that since the dawn of the millenium besides the Cup win last season.

The sky is falling! Oh noes

If Villareal want to offer that much to add him to their collection of ageing stars, then so be it. We have other options and better alternatives.

Makelele is like 35 now. How much more time do you think he still has? Because if he's gonna play at a lower standard, I really don't see why PSG should try so hard to get him when cheaper solutions are out there.

They should get Pato.

I was originally against bringing in an expensive "star" player. But one has to consider that this is Makelele and not some flakey attacker that'll drop out quickly. Even at 34/35, he's performing at a high level for Chelsea and at the rate players go nowadays, I think his fitness and experience will give him a good 3-4 years. Cheaper solutions are out there, but I don't think that they are better solutions. At the end of the day, he's a genuinely world-class player and bringing him in, IMO, will have the equally important effect of developing and benefitting our young midfielders (clement, chantome).

in any case, as much as I would like to have him at Paris, i don't think the transfer is very likely,
