I don't think it's necessarily a "policy".

Lacombe is incapable of handling big players in the team so what he did was to stick with young players from the academy. The thing is he can do anything to them, and make them do as he pleases because he knows they will comply. With a guy like Dhorasoo around, that was not possible.

Yup, he's a Guy Roux, that's who Auxerre should have hired, not Santini or Fernandez.

PSG: Announced Gallardo? (28/11)
According to the Team, the leader of play River Plate Marcelo Gallardo (29 years, 23 meetings in L1 Argentina this season, 11 goals) could make his return Leagues 1 of them this winter at the time of the mercato. Arriving at the end of his contract with Millonarios, the former Monegasque would have been proposed in Paris SG. Perhaps with the search for a number 10, the club of the capital holds its rare pearl and which more is without allowance of transfer. To follow. (By Alexis Pereira)

"Interrogé par nos confrères de Canal+, Alain Cayzac a confirmé l'existence de contacts entre le PSG et Marcelo Gallardo. Le président parisien en a profité pour réaffirmer sa confiance en Guy Lacombe."

Good, he's a fighter, a great technical player, and he can deliver passes. Honestly, he can form the tandem with Pauleta than Kalou was never able to do, and help up realize a good second half of the season. Some other recruits after him during the summer might help us have a better year, next year. Of course that is assuming that we don't fall into that zone

Well Marseille said that they wont be making any big signings this winter. I dont think Monaco is either. That leaves Gallardo vs whatever striker Lyon signs and I doubt it will be a big enough name that it would trumph the Gallardo signing.

"I loved Gallardo when he was at Monaco," Cayzac told L'Equipe. "I love playmakers, with talent for passing."

hmm what other club would be in for him

Utd are not going to let Heinze go, although having him back would be a dream. Evra is giving him competition but Utd have no depth after him, and they're not going to gamble on Silvestre or Richardson.

The other club is, surprise surprise, OM

However :

Selon le journal sportif argentin Olé, Marcelo Gallardo officialisera mardi ou mercredi son transfert au PSG.

hold your breath fellas this might be the best news in a long time, but then again PSG has a hate-hate relationship with good news

OMG ! That'd be awsome. Great news !

And as for Gallardo, i don't know what to expect ? He's able to have a great six months or a horrible one with red cards and injuries.

I guess we can say it's a good tranfer for Paris ... if it happens.

Unfortunately I don't think Gabby would move back to France, why would Fergie want to sell a player voted 'fan's player of the year' last season and weaken the squad.

As for Gallardo... Its a short term solution that will more than likely back fire in the long run.
Great creative midfielder in his day, but he's the wrong side of 30 and i just feel he's the wrong option for PSG at the moment!
Rather than adding yet another another over-aged/ over-rated player to our squad, who will only have a year or two left in them, they need to sign for the future, because at the present the squad is hardly good enough to challenge for a european place, let alone the title and Gallardo is not going to be the player to change that!
I'd say Alan needs to look at players like Gouffran (Caen), or possibly bringing in Aliadiere, or Mvuemba (Rennes), or Faty (Rennes) or Briand (who says he want to leave). There are plenty of young FRENCH players out there who could help take this club forward, rather than buying aging players who will only take the club backwards in the long term!

Money my friend. We don't have money to spend because the owners aren't giving any up. Your young talents would cost PSG a pretty penny.

Gallardo's contract is finished this week as the Apertura is done. As a result, the only money the club needs to spend is on signing him and his wages.
One can also make the argument that the club needs leaders and a player of his disposition can add that fight and determination. Nevermind the 4-0 waloping of Pana, we need experienced reinforcements who are fighters and command attention. Young players are energetic and fun, but lack severely in this department. Either way, it's a gamble. But the more rational choice is leaving the young players to the summer transfer window when the prices are lower. On the other hand, will Guy be able to cope with another 'character', especially given what he did to Vikash?

Good point buddy, but if the board is refusing to allow any funds then Guy need to put his foot down and demand funds.

Alternatively, if there are no funds available then Guy needs to be proactive about the situation and raise funds himself by selling some players, e.g Yepes has already raised doubts over his future at the club and could bring in around £2 Million (or used as a 'sweetener' in another transfer), Pancrate should be sold instantly i'd let him go for 10p and it was madness by the club to allow Vikash Dhorasoo go on a free when they could have just held onto him until January and received some sort of fee for him!
