Why is it that they do not play extra time if there is a tie? They settle all Champions league games based on the road team goals if there is a tie. On Tuesday, Liverpool was leading 1-0 with three minutes remaining in the game, when Chelsea missed a near goal. If they would have scored, Chelsea would have advanced to the final. Not sure why they wouldn't play an overtime to settle the tie.

THey want the players to be as fresh as possible; playing extra minutes would make the players tired both short and long term. Thats my best explanation for it.
