View Full Version : Jose can you see? That you're not going back home?

(With apologies to Francis Scott Key)
From today's Evening Standard via Arseblog:
"I have said many times that I do not buy a player of his age to sell him one year later. If Real Madrid wanted to buy him, they could have bought him a year ago. They can forget it."
You tell 'em, boss!!!
First he says he's interested in Becks, now he tells Real where to stick it on Reyes. Methinks LeBoss is putting the mental screws to Real, especially since they will very well finish up the year with no silverware AGAIN and the King of the Idiots will have to deliver some players or the inmates might just boot him from the asylum. "You can stick your Galacticos up your arse!!!"

Yep. Wenger is either messing with them.....and/or saying that Reyes will be very very expensive if Madrid start up with their usual summer shenanigans.

I'm happy that its Wenger messing with R.Madrid instead of the other way around. However, if stuff like these comments mean were stuck with a misfiring JAR for another season than I think its Arsenal that is really losing out. I just don't see JAR turning this around and becoming a great member of the team anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong but do we really want to watch him getting in Henry's way, missing good scoring chances, making runs directly into a swarm of defenders and turning over the ball, and stories of his problems with the rest of the squad for another season?
I say we bite the bullet on this one, admit that he wasn't a good buy (and certainly not at the price we paid), and ship him off in the summer. It would be nice if we didn't sell him to those arrogant R.Madrid bosses but there simply aren't a lot of teams around that will be able to pay us enough to recoup most of the funds we spent on JAR.

i admit i was one of jose's biggest critics but lately he's starting to win me over. he's been playing really well and he still has alot to prove and i'm confident he'll produce. lets not be so harsh, eh? remember henry, pires, bergkamp and edu were all pretty crap when we bought them, so lets give him another season afterall he's still a youngster.

I agree with MT. I do not want to give up on Reyes yet. He is very young and has tons of potential. I would, however, like to see him more on the wing than as a forward....mainly because I want to see RvP in the forward position. I think Reyes' pace, ability to beat people and willingness to track back make him a project not worth giving up on quite yet.

Does AW tell Real to push off re Paddy?

I think that's what he's setting them up for.
And now he's saying there's a 20% chance we'll keep Edu, as he's still trying to convince him to stay. Maybe he had Henry and Paddy tell him how horrid Italy can be if everything doesn't go just right.

Looks like Le Boss is performing the old Texas "Taking the Bull by the Horns" and settin thangs straight from the get-go!

I hope we can keep Edu! The 2 times he's come on recently he's looked really composed and assured. I know that would leave us with a surfeit of choices in the middle, but, as a lefty he offers something different. Even more important if Paddy decides to move on this year?

We might be messing with Real Madrid...or it could just be the truth. I don't think that Arsene is ready to let Reyes walk just yet. Maybe during training sessions he sees something that we don't see on the pitch just yet, but I'm sure "the boss" has his reasons for wanting to keep Reyes. However, it would be nice to get some payback for the Vieira incident of last summer...

Don't get me wrong, Italy has some amazing players and an extremely high quality league, but the question in my mind is: Do players have fun playing there? I mean since Directv picked up Goltv i've seen a lot of games, and they just don't seem to enjoy themselves like in England or even Spain. The games often seem very tense, the fans are mostly men, and the attitude at the games seems very different.
BTW anyone see that Directv now offers Setanta sport (ch 615) for $12 a month? Will they show all of the PPV games on it you think? That would save me a lot on PPV. If so, I'll get it for next season.

if your talking about EPL ppv games then i dont think so. but they say that that they show international matchs so you might be able to catch sum of the big national squads. from what ive seen so far on the channel they show the champions league games that espn doesnt show and eufa cup matches. as well as reruns of epl matchs. they also show championship matches from england.

We have known that Edu looks like moving and Dennis Bergkamp

I wonder if the 20% chance that Edu will stay is the same 20% chance that Vieira will be sold.

Did Valencia move? :p
Anyways, I agree 100% that it's great to see AW screwing with Real, and I'm not at all surprised that he hasn't given up on JAR (especially considering the 10m "bid").
