If CSKA Moscow wins the UEFA Cup then that means a Russian team would have won it first ahead of a French team and we just can't have that. It's painfull enough that a French team hasnt won the UEFA Cup but to be behind a country who also hasnt won it yet but has a chance to now, would be embarassing. Imagine that a French team has never won the UEFA Cup ever but a Russian team has ? Eeewww that is not good. So I urge you all to support Sporting Lisbon in the final and hope that they win. A Portuguese team has already won the UEFA Cup so they are already ahead of us French. So lets hope Russia/a Russian team doesnt move ahead of us too. GO SPORTING !!!

Calm down. The RPL is still waaaaaaay behind Ligue 1 at the minute.
Although I think a CSKA win would benefit the RPL and get more European slots open, I truely hate the horse scum.....
Its a moral dilema but I cannot picture the arrogant Konye fans gleaming with their bought Abramovich success.
Ugh, Go Sporting - at least Boro will have lost to the future UEFA champs.

Lets face it, the UEFA cup doesn't mean sh1t. Sure a nice little trophy, but come on, it's a the second rate European Championship. Who won the UEFA Cup 5 years ago? Who cares. Still, it would have been nice to see AZ win this thing.

I feel sorry for AZ Alkmaar...they really deserved to go into the final.
And I really wanted Parma to go to...their fans have suffered a lot the past few years and their first ever Euro trophy would be great for the fans. But, oh well. :(

Parma also won the old Cup Winners Cup in 1993 against Standard Liege, and a UEFA Cup I believe in 1995. 3 European trophies in a decade is not bad...

Ugggg. I really hated that 1999 Parma team. Buffon in goal and stupid Crespo. I remember Bordeaux beat Parma at Bordeaux 2-1 in the quarterfinals that year and then proceeded to lose at Parma something like 6-2. It was horrible. That same year Marseille beat Bolgna and Giussepe Signori, with a Laurent Blanc PK in the 86th minute at Bolgna to advance to the final. Parma has a great footballing tradition. Ever since the Parmalot disaster things have gone south for them though. I love Sebastien Frey though.

There were recent allegations brought up that Parma team that beat Marseille was involved in some sort of doping issue I think.

Sorry but I disagree. I want to see a French team win it before I drop dead. I always follow the French teams progress when they are in the UEFA Cup. The final last year was awesome and Marseille could have won it if Barthez didnt screw up.

I keep forgetting that this game is being played in Sporting's home stadium. Being realisitc, the only way CSKA can win is if they take it into penalty kicks. I dont see how they can win on Sporting's home field other than that. I am not worried that much. I also forgot CSKA beat 2 French teams this year(Auxerre and PSG) so thats another reason to cheer against them.

I remember that one, when the peno was awarded the italian announcers said "incredibile" in a disgusted manner at least 15 times. It was also nice to see Lolo score it the second time around after the ref made him take it again.

I'm a Loko fan, I don't any reason to hate them even more.
