Its ironic that I find myself making my first post praising GolTV for this afternoons amazing AZ Alkmaar-Sporting Lisbon match because yesterday I was set to roast ESPN for their pathetic Tommy Smith and his calling of Tuesdays Chelsea-Liverpool game in which Smith was his usual,doesn`t-have-a-clue self.He totally devalues a game with his ignorance,I`m sorry to say.Poor Derick Rae having to work with that guy.The reason I didn`t post it was that it was such a condemnation of Tommy Smith that it could have been mis-interpreted as a personal attack which it wasn`t intended to be.Hes not worth wasting my time on.
But this afternoon I was privilleged to watch this fantastic UEFA Cup semi-final and be so thoroughly entertained and absorbed, not just by the game itself but by GolTVs commentators who were outstanding, especially Ray Hudson who took the game to an unbelievable level. His knowlege and passion have never been more dramatically demonstrated and Phil Shoen plays a perfect lead man for him and does a splendid job letting the game breath, just as Derik Rae does. The game was a total delight and I`m pleased my first post is totally positive and a pleasure for me to offer the boards. The stuff Hudson comes out with and how he accents the good and bad with such great colorful lingo, makes him very special.I watched the first half of the San Jose Earthquakes/Salt Lake game last weekend and the game and his calling just had me and my family totally hooked! The Alkmaar game is on again at 9pm tonight and we`ll watch it again and love every single moment.
It simply couldn`t have been any better.Sincere thanks GolTV. :)
