Last night East Fife beat Raith Rovers 3-2 to win the Fife Cup for the first time in 17 years.
A great start for East Fife saw them 2 up early on with goals from Stevie Nicholas and Johnny Mitchell. Raith pulled one back, in contraversial circumstances, just before half time. The Raith player clearly handled the ball, in front of the linesman, before smashing a 25 yard volley past Scott Morrison in the East Fife goal.
This set up a frantic second half. East Fife extended their lead though when Raith keeper, Berthelot, brought down Mitchell as he bore down on goal, Berthelot walked and Stevie Nicholas stuck away the penalty. Raith threw everything forward in the last tewnty minutes in a desperate attempt to avoid defeat (something they must be getting used to by now) but they could only grab one consolation goal.
East Fife reached the final by defeating Dunfermline Athletic 1-0 in the QF and beating Burtisland Shipyard 4-0 in the SF.
