It's kind of appropriate, since we're playing Liverpool anyway, but does anyone know why their fans are called the KOP, or K.O.P., or whatever..., I've seen loads of articles with the word KOP in it, and I have absolutely NO idea what it means...

A question I have asked myself recently. Here is the reply I got from the pool board.

The Kop End is named for the Spion Kop, a hill in South Africa where a British regiment fought a gallant but futile battle in the Boer War. Many of the troops that died there where from Liverpool. In the wake of that battle, the end of the Anfield ground that was then a large hill was named the Spion Kop. The name has stuck through all these years.

What exactly does this mean, in Edu's case (or anyone else's for that matter)? It cannot be binding, right? Surely he can't make a firmer commmitment to a team that he is not under contract with at the expense of one where he is.

Not actually correct. A pre-contract can be signed at any time during a player's contract. The 6 months thing is only the period of time during which a player can talk to other clubs, without the permission of his current one. It's a common mistake.
