At the moment quite frankly no. Despite having what their supporters view as 'bad years' Liverpool have still been around the mark with 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, 5ths etc. They also have been able to spend substantial amounts of money to bring in talent from other Premier League teams and various leagues in Europe while also bringing through world class players like Gerrard, Carragher & Owen.
Despite the fact that I think we have a very good yth set up and have been able to bring through quite a number of youngsters. None of the current crop that have played in Premiership are or will be world class.
Our only hope is a large investment is made (as promised!) from the board continually over the next 2-3 years into our playing squad so that we can first be a regular club playing in Europe before we can ever dream of the CL final

I was also thinking the same thing when liverpool were celebrating their amazing achievment. But then i sumed up everything i decided probably not in my life time.
Theres too much money in football a villa don't have enough to compete with the man utd, chelsea, Arsenal. I can't see chelsea ever dropping from the top places unless abramovich suddenly goes bankrupt but this is extremley unlikley.
The only way Villa are going to relive the glory is if they get there own billionaire. But saying that the whole premiership will be run by billionaires soon.
