NISOA is a good organization with an excellent standard in principal but there are certain assignors who are unethical and total crooks.

Alex Ivenhenko (FL and NJ) and Richard Kiernan (East PA) are at the top of the list.

It is common knowledge and proof is easily given that Rich Kiernan not only assigns games for a school where his wife is a headcoach but has assigned himself to the games.

Alex of the ISOAB.com not only assigns himslef to middles of his Division 1 Games 60+ A SEASON! but will assign a referee's who cant walk from their car to the lockerrooms to the games. Dont even bother asking them about the Laws of the Game....ok NCAA Rules of Soccer.

I understand we all make mistakes but they make them every season. I do also know there are college refs who can tell worse things than that about them. What is being done by NISOA? NOTHING!

Ummm....I am pretty sure that this forum is not the place for htese accusations which could border on slander (or are message board postings "published"/"written" which would therefore make it libel?).

A more constructive way for this thread to go would be to present problems you've had with assignors and ask for advice on how to handle it.

The things said above can not be slander because they are true, can be proven and to many in the colleg ref community in the midatlantic and northeast regions this is common knowledge.

Although I do not know any of the individuals you mention, I understand your frustration. You ask "What is NISOA doing about it?" You need to know that college assignors work for the conference. They do not work for NISOA and a conference can use anyone they want as an assignor, including someone who is not a member of NISOA. As long as the schools, and therefore the conferences, are satisified, it doesn't matter what you, I or anyone else thinks about the assignor or officials they use. For at least some assignors, assigning is most or all of their income which certainly motivates them to satisfy their customer. I don't mean to be Pollyanna, either, but you may not be privy to all of the circumstances here. You can be very angry about what you believe these people are doing, but going all 60 Minutes won't change a thing. If you don't like/trust/respect an assignor, don't do games for them and get on with your life.

The question still remains: why are you posting this here, at Bigsoccer? This is an international forum for referees. I fail to see the connection between general referee discussion and the accusations you have made. If you feel there is some foul play involved, collect the evidence and make a presentation to the appropriate authorities. Posting about it here in the manner which you did really does not accomplish anything.

Now, if you are looking for other referees that can collaberate with your statements and you need their support, THAT might be an appropriate message to post. Simply state that you feel there is some fishy business with the assignment of college matches in your area, that you are looking for other referees who can support your position, and that you need their help to take appropriate action.

Coming on here solely to post your accusations is highly inappropriate (and immature), and possibly a breach of BigSoccer posting guidelines.

This forum is not the best place to voice grievances of this type. You would be advised to follow-up with the appropriate authorities.

So. Can anyone else support problems with college assigning and suggest any idea of how NISOA can effectively regulate assignors so that assigning is fair and appropriate?

In my area there is an excellent high school ref that won't be assigned to any college games because the assignor doesn't like the fact that he has a ponytail. Yep that's it... a separate ref was told this directly by the assignor, yet the assignor won't explain this to the "offending" person. The ref that was told this has now lost interest in pursuing both high school and college games due to the "politics" as insignificant as hair style even though they were on the fast track to officiate college games. In a way the game has lost two really good refs.
It's too bad that there are good/great refs out there that would benefit the game but are not one of the "chosen" due to assignor preferences. Not to mention the assignor is a crap ref yet does college games... frustrating...
