A Mexican team with a winning business strategy north of the border
Apr 28th 2005
From The Economist print edition

LATINOS versus gringos is how Jorge Vergara, the Mexican founder of America's newest soccer team, Chivas USA, unashamedly describes the club strategy. Alas, at the moment it is the gringos who are winning: in its first four matches the Latino newcomers have won none, drawn one and lost three—including a local match last weekend with the Los Angeles Galaxy. Assume a few more Chivas USA losses in a season that stretches for 32 regular matches and there will be plenty of sceptics charging that Mr Vergara and his co-owner, club president Antonio Cue, have stepped into the wrong league.…

Saw the movie. Loved it. Star Wars meets Sienfeld.

As a matter of fact, I just returned from H2G2...
As an avid fan, I have to say, I was very disappointed... Sadly.
The 'traditional' elements that were present in the movie were quite good, the production was good, the acting was good... But the storyline was absolute crap... I realize that DA rewrote much of the story for each incarnation (from radio, to TV mini-series, to books, and eventually the bulk of the movie), but it seemed that whomever it was that finished the movie script (I knew, but have forgotten who) just took all the completed pieces, did a pathetically inept patch job, and slapped on an equally inept ending... Extremely large plot gaps, almost non-sensical changes or outright reversals... I won't spoil the specifics, but let's just say whole books (or episodes) were wholly missing.

It might have been better as a 4 part trilogy...;) (or 5 or 6)

OK... Sorry 'bout that, but as I said, I just got back...

On to the articles... I'm sure there's some smart chap out there that can spot an error or two in this paragraph.... I hope.

After a brilliant performance in the Dutch championship that made PSV Holland's champion, and also in the UEFA cup, Beasley and his teammates are facing the biggest challenge so far of their professional careers – the quarterfinals for the Champions Cup, where they will play against FC Milan.

Ha! That is so bad it almost looks intentional. As in, "After a brilliant performance in the British championship that made London Hotspurs Britain's champion, and also in the European Coca Cola cup, Keller and his teammates are facing the biggest challenge so far of their professional careers - the quarterfinals of the Champions Tournament, whee they will play against Bavaria Munich."
