CM4. In October, 2005. And he isn't a promising youth. He's an important first team player. I only signed him in the summer but he's formed a good partnership with Daniel Nardiello.
Bloody Julius Aghahowa...
Sounds like all you can do is make sure his contract is not too much lower than the other important first team players on the team. Also give him as much playing time as his fitness can handle.

I have a player to get if you are starting a new game. I bought Cherno Samba as a 17 year old from Milwall in my first season in charge of Sunderland. Now in his fifth season with the club, Samba has developed into the leading scorer in the EPL, motoring Sunderland to the top of the league and a transfer fee of $16.25 million.
As a warning, many players will not develop the same in two different games. A great youth player in one game will be a wash up in another.

I must disagree I pick up a critical three or four players for each game and they are always good: Alexander Farnerud, Tomi Petrescu, and David Aganzo, DaMarcus Beasley is good as well

I agree that youth players ability can vary between games. I signed Kasper Schmeical in one game, and he was amazing, he powered my team to FA Cup glory as a 19 yr old, but in another game he was a complete waste of time.
And about Cherno Samba, i have justed signed him in my 3rd season so hes just turned 20, i find him not only affective as a late burst of pace and energy, but also as a left winger because he can use both feet and is very pacey.

I always pick up A.Farnerud and Freddy Adu (I'm still on Cm4).
My favorite is Ivan Bosnjak. I discovered him a few games ago and was forced to use him upfront after a series of injuries. He always picks up a crazy number of goals despite having fairly average to above average stats. He is always cheap or free and very capable of covering everything from attacking center mid, right mid, and forward. I've never had him turn down a move but I generally don't manage the worst clubs. You can use him against even the best clubs. He also creates plenty of goals so your whole team will score more. He never seems to get injured and he doesn't get too many cards. Eventually one of the mega clubs notices that he scores more than a goal a game and has an average above 8 in all competitions so they offer a lot of money for him. I usually try to hold on for another season. After two seasons, you can usually sell him for 20-25m. That is a great profit for smaller clubs.

I play him for full 90 minutes each game. He scores loads of goals.
And then he hands in a transfer request, which I rejected. So now he's majorly unhappy, but it hasn't stopped him scoring goals. And now Liverpool want to sign him. I think I'm going to lose him. The idiot.
But I have somehow, miraculously, signed a brilliant replacement on a free transfer... welcome to Crystal Palace, Thierry Henry. :)

There are always going to be players with ambition to play at larger clubs. Since Palace isn't considered a top club, you will have to play that fine line.
It is absurd you signed Henry for free. How old is he?

It's my 3rd season on CM4. I dunno how I got him but an underacheiving Arsenal let him go to Palace for nothing.
And my Palace team has quite a reputation, after winning the FA Cup last season.

I just got an email that my face is going to be used in the game as a regenerated player or coach. Cool!

Thanks! Him and James Beattie will form a nice partnership. And well done for getting your face put in the game!

It's been quiet around here. Are people playing the strawberry or gold demo? I have a little. FM is looking good.

Wow... well, I haven't played CM4 for a few weeks now... I just remembered what a predicament I'm in. I've signed loads of world class players... and looking at my squad list for the first time after the transfer window opened, I thought "Oh brother."

I havn't checked in a while... anyways I've been playing mostly in the Mexican league (I havn't yet opted to take the challange of going to europe) In fact I havn't even managed to win my first MFL title (this is because the damn game crashed when I had a good chance so I had to start a new one.
For my new game I have decided to work my way from the bottom of the barrel. I started a game with The Australian, Mexican (both divisions), Spanish (both divisions) and German leagues. My ultimite goal is European glory but I started in the Australian league with the Melbourne Knights. After 2 Championship seasons, and winning the NASL Challange cup, coming in as runner up in the Oceana Cup (really should have used my "A" squad for that game) My rep is still at very poor. This even though i'm surpassing my teams expectations every season, they want me to invest in new young players to rebuild the team. O well I'll keep trying hopefully some second division Mexican team will give me a chance soon, perhaps I'll look to takeover one of the National teams in oceana, surely if I get them playing well my Rep should go up.
Anyways I'll let you know how it all works out.

Made it as far as the playoff final in the end. Lost to Blackburn who came from nowhere to take 7th spot on the last day. Still a decent season. Strengthened the squad over the summer, and made a mixed start to the following season. Hopeless at home to Oxford, comfortable winners at Highbury. Game then proceeds to crash :(. I quite like my squad, well balanced and even scoring a few goals too.
Given my previous save point is before the European Championships I might wait to see who gets sacked from that and try and get a national job. Somehow England didn't sack their manager who had led the side to three 0-0 draws in not qualifying for the last eight.

I still actually play Championship Manager 0304 and I got Hertha Berlin to win the Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League, German League Cup and UEFA Super Cup (without cheating mind you :D ).
But the best achievement I've ever done was take Union BErlin and AJ Ajaccio to UEFA CHampions League. Union are right now a 4th division team in Germany and Ajaccio is one of the worst teams in Ligue 1. I think it is immensely satisfying taking small teams to the top, its a good feeling. I also got Everton to win Premier League :D

I am playing Sunderland in 0304 and I am in the third season in charge. First season, I won the Championship and FA Cup. Second season finished sixth in the EPL and won the UEFA Cup.
