I didn't declare interest in Zizou. Maybe I scouted him once. Or something.
Yes, once you look at a player's stats and put him on your shortlist the team he belongs to is notified of your interest... the player finds out too, but is not put under pressure or on the spot like when u announce in the papers that you are going after so and so...

But there was some interest in ZIZOU but not frome me, hmm, interesting. Its also gay that as soon as I buy Zidane for cheap, Figo is bought from Milan to Valencia. I also realize that my squad is too damn Big. I've got almost 40 players who can Start, and then I've got youth on the Reserve teams.

Yes, thats a problem I faced as well... you know things are bad when one of your best players gets injured and you are happy... because it allows someone else to play... I have found an interesting strategy... sell off your players... not the best ones, just the good ones who are not getting any better... but sell them to mid level and below teams... low initial payments but with a decent amount of money comming in over time... if you happen to sell 5 or 6 players like that then even if you have a bad season or two and poor luck and your transfer budget gets cut... you will still have substancial fees, as they will be rolling in... I also make a point to loan out all the young players who don't get mad when I list them as willing to loan...

Cerci is class... In his first game for me he got a 10 rating, a goal, an assist and m.o.m.
Yeah, he's pretty good. I ran out basically a U-20 side against Real Madrid, who were fielding their full senior side, in a friendly recently. He came off the bench to get a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win.

Cerci is very good, but I've got too many strikers. CIsse, Carew, Ax, Semler, Cerci. And youth strikers who aren't very good.
I play a 3-5-2 now because I have a logjam at all three positions Midfield, Defense and Striker. I've got Quality defenders and I also have Wing Backs which need to play.
Its ridiculous... I've brought this on myself

CM 03/04 I have finally achieved the highest levels of success with Southend United. The Shrimpers has made the long journey from the bottom of D3 to winning the CL 3 times, the league cup twice, the FA cup twice, and the EPL once.
16 Seasons in and I think it is about time to find a new team in d3 or below and rebuild again. What I love most about this team is I still have 2 players who I brought into the squad the first year when I was trying to avoid relegation in d3. One starts and one is veteran leadership on the bunch.
I have found that the most successful tactic is to alternate every 4-5 games between 2 or 3 tactics.
I play a 5-2-1-2 with the outside back making foward runs about 50% of the time.
A 3-2-1-3-1 with the DM being outside backs and making foward runs
and a
4-1-2-1-2

Cerci is very good, but I've got too many strikers.
I brought him off the bench in a UEFA cup match. Was trailing 1-2 in aggregate and needed an away goal to win the series. Cerci scored in the 89th minute to pull it off. Excellent stuff!

Yah, Cerci led the way when my B Team trashed another squad 8-1. I was amazed.

I'm still playing CM4. I think that I'm going to try to take a european team and only play american players, and try to win the league and do decent in europe. The work permits would make this a little difficult in England, so I was just wondering what the foreigner restrictions are in Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. Thanks.

Spain has a Non-EU limit of 3 in the match squad. If this is CM4 you can sign them but can't play them. Germany has a limit of 8. France of 3 I believe, I don't know about Italy.

in italy you can buy one non-eu per year. in spain it is 4 on the team, 3 allowed on the field. england=unlimited if you can a work permit. germany and france have similar rules to spain, with germany having 8.
holland is the best league that has no foreign restrictions.

True. Except Managing Ajax you will most likely dominate except for PSV and Feyernoord matches, and of course the FC Utrecht matches. It can be difficult if u have tactical problems. Ajax doesn't give you a large transfer budget to start with.

Could you explain this in more detail?
I've only played as EPL or MLS teams but am thinking of trying one of the other leagues. My decision would be based in part on the rules on buying and playing non-EU players. I haven't found a good source that describes in detail the rules for each of the leagues.

Spain: a team's roster may only contain 4 non-eu players. i htink in the game it doesnt count the goalie as non-eu, which is not true to life. during a game only 3 non-eu players are allowed to be on the field at once.
Italy: i THINK your whole team could be non-eu, the thing is you are only allowed to buy one non-eu per season.
germany: i am not sure of the rules. i think you are allowed 8 non-eu's and there is no limit to how many of them may be allowed on the field at once.
france: i think you are allowed 4-5 players on a roster.
holland: no limits. not a very competitive league tho.
i have a question to any1 who has swapped teams. i am thinking of moving ajax to the english or spanish leagues which i know is possible, but what will happen to my players who dont qualify for a work permit (england) or my non-eu's (spain)??

If you mean doing this via the editor, I don't know what would happen in Spain, but when I did something similar in CM4 in England, the players could play, but once heir contracts ran out, unless they had gained int'l status, they couldn't retain their permits & were snapped on Bosmans by other teams.

you dont need to do it with an editor, you can simply do it with a text file. some command like "swap teams x and y," i can look it up for you if you would like.
i guess i will move them to england and just remember to sell them off before their contracts r out. thank you.

Yes, swapping countries has been done. But, I kinda like the proposed realism. Rather than placing Ajax and Barca in the EPL

So how does the promotion/relegation work in Holland? How many teams get promoted each year?

Ok, I got the answer about Holland on their board. Now, I think I'm gonna start a new game with one of the 2nd division teams in Holland, and only use American players. I'll keep you guys posted.

I won the Double w/ Liverpool ( FA Cup and Premiership) in my first season. I sold Heskey and Diouf in the early going. Didi Hammann was gone in January, I brough in Fredy. W. Thompson, the Guatemalan w/ Golden Boots on..He played well int he middle w/ Gerrard/Murphy or Carragher. I bought Patrick Ax and I gave Le Tallec more minutes as Owen's partner. I also have the America *.ddt add-in so the MLS players are there, needless. I also added DaMarcus Beasley, who suprisingly is a decent Aerial prospect
