No no no, the people to pick are Alessio Cerci (15 [almost 16], Roma, €975) & Tim Janssen (17, PSV, app €3mn). Janssen was horrible in his first few months for me and soon improved, but Cerci was always class. They are now the two most expensive players in the wolrd (Cerci is worth €74mn and Janssen is €72mn). Janssen has 10 Dutch caps & 11 goals, and last season he had about 50 appearances for me and bagged 69 goals & 17 assists. Cerci has 19 Italian caps & 18 goals. He had 45 appearances for me last year and 63 goals, as well as 21 assists.
Why spend millions on Tevez and he may not even get a work permit for England when you can just get these two for under 4mn?

Tevez is great as is Cerci, but the England problem is true. This is where I wish CM was more realistic...how many Argie would jump at the chance to play in England?

can you edit CM4 (4.0.8) data with CM 03/04 editor?

i never got mine up to that update, but iirc they never fixed the editor. if you search on community.sigames.com u will probably find a 3rd party editor that works.
The most recent editor patch seemed to work okay for me--of course the computer managers still insist on choosing gray players over the real ones I added to the database.

Cerci is class... In his first game for me he got a 10 rating, a goal, an assist and m.o.m.

I guided Fulham to a double, EPL and Champions League winners. Have played 11 season with them. Saha has played 420 league games with 250 goals.
One tip I have found, in the latest version of CM, is buy young players.
Look at all the youth who are free after the season. Several are bound to be 15-16 and already have played EPL games. They will sign cheap contracts, the team that owns them never objects to the transfer.
These kids that are 16 play just as well as anybody, at one time my whole midfield was 18 or under, and played fantastic, average rating close to 8 for all of them.
A second tip that worked for me, if you have the firepower up front, use it. I played 4-4-2 for about 7 years, not too much success. Then I bought another good striker and now had 3, which created a problem because I had to sit somebody, but I decided to switch to 4-3-3 and then I started winning almost every game.

Still continuing with my CM00/01 save at Halifax, managed to win the second division playoffs to get back into the first division. Went through a poor spell since guiding them to a first Premiership title, narrowly avoiding a third relegation in four years following the title after spending over half a season at the bottom of the second. Home form is still a problem though, about a dozen wins at the Shay in league games over five seasons.

i finally won the league this season with aston villa, although i went out in the 2nd round of CL which was disappointing after winning it. i lost to dinamo kiev 1-1 away and 0-1 home which sucked cuz i had some like 20 shots to 3, their keeper did awesome and mine couldnt finish. didnt win any other trophies with the league tho =\ FA cup and international cup are the only ones i have yet to won. unfortunately after the 2008 WC i still couldnt get a good national team job and barca and ajax jobs havent openned so i put the game on hold and started a new one with ajax.

Does anyone notice there are way too many training injuries? My players always get injured, normally for 2 months, during training. I find this strange because in real life I rarely hear about training injuries, especially ones for 2 months.

what patch are you on? that was common in the earlier patches, but addressed in the later ones.

On the youth issue, after my 1st manager was rudely sacked by QPR, I started looking for a club in other leagues (while starting another manager to take back MY team :D ).
After getting passed over for several openings, I finally took the job at Vorskla, a club in the Ukraine that had been bouncing up and down from the High league for years. I did my usual run on youth players, and after finding several that were already almost as good as my current crop of oldies, put some straight into the lineup. I don't have the exact details, but here's how I've done into my 3rd season:
1: Respectable finish comfortably outside the drop zone. Ukraine Cup semis, losing to Arsenal Kiev.
2: Comfortably mid-table most of the season, made a late run to poach 5th and the last UEFA Cup spot. Crashed out earlier in Ukraine Cup, to Dinamo Kiev IIRC.
3: Got off to a hot start, holding 1st at the winter break. Beat Inter Bratislavia UEFA Cup 1st round, then drew Torino and lost, but not horribly.
And this with a team that could just about qualify for the Olympics, or even the u-20 worlds. :D

For those looking for help with tactics and other CM aspects, I just found this site (recommended in another CM forum):
www.throw-in.com
They have an extensive testing and rating system for various tactics. There are also other sections for players, etc., that look like they are developing.
Check them out.

...
a worldclass midfielder (Fredy William Thompson, 25y/o)
a wordclass winger who's great in 'the hole' (Daniel Braathen, 25y/o - only cost €250k in the first season)
a worldclass defender (Matteo Ferrari, signed for €13.5mn from PArma last year)
Other top players, all bought for under €3mn: Tim Janssen (get him! he's hceap from PSV and is unreal after he settles in), Jerome Thomas, Lionel Morgan, Markus Husterer, Joe Murphy, Mads Beierholm, Oksitz Estefania, Carmine Pasciarello, Fabio Paim(!), Man-Keung Clarke (best youth system product I've ever seen), Razvan Rat (funny, he cost Villa 31mn 2 years back, did crap, Villa got relegated and went into admin. & I picked him up for 2.2 and he's been spectacular). I also got Michael Dawson for €5.5mn last year (better attributes than even Lucio at the start of the game!)....
what are the nationalities of some of these players?

Fredy William Thompson is Guatemalen, but has about 30 int'l caps, so he gets a permit.
Braathen is Norwegian, internationally uncapped.
Ferreri is Italian, with very few or no international caps.
Janssen is Dutch, no internarional caps.
Thomas is English, no international caps.
Morgan is English, no international caps.
Husterer is German, no international caps.
Pasciarello is Italian, no international caps.
Estefania is Spanish, no international caps.
Fabio Paim is Portuguese, no international caps.
Clarke is English, but does not exist at the start of the game (youth product).
Rat is Romaian, with about a dozen caps, I think.
Dawson is English, no international caps.

I bought a copy of CM 03/04 on EBay but with no instructions. Anyone know where on the net I can get a copy or any sort of help playing it?

You don't need much instruction, any questions you can ask here, but also the game is sorta self-explanatory.
BTW, has anybody else had a Situation where the PLAYER'S AGENT contacted you about Wanting to JOIN your club?
That happened w/ Me and Zidane. Zidane was sold to AC Milan. I'm managing Barca, and Zidane's agent contacted me requesting that I make a bid to Milan for him. I did, and eventually bought him. {Since Ronnie is out for 2 months}

T-3 days...

i have heard of it but never had it happen. i heard it happens most often when a player is unsettled and you declare interest in them.

I didn't declare interest in Zizou. Maybe I scouted him once. Or something.
