Some of them.
In a division such as the Premiership pretty much all stats should have been entered, but as you go to the more obscure leagues and divisions less data is likely to have been entered, the game randomising the rest of the stats.

I'm still playing CM 01/02, and I've some questions in terms of coach selection:
Does it REALLY matter whether or not a coach has a different formation preference than you/your club's preferred formation?
AND
Does it REALLY matter whether or not a coach is defensive-minded, when you are trying to create an offensive-minded club?
AND
Does it matter what 'coaching style' a coach has in terms of improving player attributes/assigning coaches to training regimens?
AND
How does one correctly select a team of coaches in CM? [Currently, I try to find a coach with a high 'coaching GK' attribute, a coach with a high 'coaching outfield players' attribute, at least one with a high 'tactical' attribute, and at least one with a high 'dealing with youth' attribute.]
I know it's a bit, but thanks in advance!!

I've never really looked at the coach preferences. I really just look at their attributes. Afterall, the real importance is how the 1st team performs and you're the one making the tactics and player selections. I think the players are much more important and the coaches can be used on their attributes. If someone else has seen the coach preferences make a bigger difference let me know and I will start to pay more attention.

Indeed it is two higher than that of his partner in central defence, who doesn't suffer from problems like that. Perhaps due to the injury proneness stat, but nothing my physios have picked up on.
What problems are you talking about--the long recovery time I've noticed, or just game fatigue? If one player has a higher stamina but tires faster during a game, it is often down to his workrate (and, of course, how much ground you make him cover).
I made such good moves in the summer, and now I'm going to win the league with other clubs cast-off kids... ;)

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes for "The Board" to make expansions to a stadium?
I'm in my 4th season of English Div. 1 competition (with what is essentially a Div. 3 team) and am about to finish last in the league for the 4th straight year in average home attendance, despite selling out all of the home games. (My average attendance is 7,890 in a 8,000 capacity stadium.)
I have asked the Board, repeatedly, to expand the stadium and for the last four years keep getting the same response "The Board assures you that plans are underway to expand the stadium, blah, blah, blah."
Should it be taking four years to do this?
I would imagine that more seats translates to more gate receipts, which means more income, which I'd assume means a larger transfer budget which I could really use to make the jump to the Prem.

Well I've been playing CM 03/04 for awhile now (with a patch for USA players), and I'm Ajax. First season I never lost a match and won the Dutch Double, but Europe was a different story. I got matched up against Borussia Dortmund in Champions League qualifying and my team still wasn't settled and I didn't have the kind of players I wanted on my backline yet. So I lose and got sent to UEFA Cup. But I got to the Semi's before falling to Roma there. So a good season. Now I'm in my second season and my depth is outstandiing to the point where I have two full squads.
Here's my stratregy, perhaps someone can poke holes in it?
Play an attacking 4-4-2. My Full backs are Maxwell and Yakubu (Trabelsi left me for Tottenham) so I'm good there and I have them using an attacking mentality while my CBs playing a normal mentality. My Wingers go flying up field and I have them at attacking and then crossing when they reach the endline. I use a flat midfield. My left winger is VDV and my right Winger is a guy named Castroman whom I bought from Valez in Argentina. One of my central midfielders is set to attacking mentality and makes attacking runs into the middle of the field (I flip-flop between Sneijder and Steven Pienaar here), and my DMid is set to Normal and is either JOB or Walker.
Sound good?

In the older versions of the game it was easy to get the board to expand the stadium. I've gone through a few seasons of CM4 with Newcastle and I have also asked for stadium expansion in two seasons. I don't know what the hold up is. The only thing I can think in your case is that the team has no money. There is the option of giving the board an ultimatium but I don't know how they will react. If they don't value you, you could be fired quickly.

Lemme ask..your Midfielder are they allowed to RUN With the BALL or just make the aggressive Run??
Who are you strikers? and are they pacey or strong in the air? And a note, when you win the league. the Clubs in the league try to mock your players. I.E. try to get players similar to yours...even to the nationality. I find.

I have them run with the ball and make aggressive attacking runs. My forwards are Ivan Alonso, a guy who has a 19 Jumping (20 heading) a pace of 16 with acceleration of 16 (but only 11 strnegth) and Wesley Sonck.

I'd presume in game fatigue and recovery are closely associated. Never really considered work rate, but looking at my squad that doesn't seem to explain the guys who suffer most.
Actually my current case is is a little unclear, after playing 83 games in the previous season pretty much every one was knackered towards the end (except the guy who clocked up 26 games of bans - with no yellow cards). Indeed the reds did help to give players rests, although 30 odd is something I could do with cutting down.

Yes I familiar with both of them. I can't remember Sonck's strength. But I know Alonso will win alot of balls in the air. Its the crossing and passing that are the questions. I wouldn't ask Alonso to dribble nor shoot from distance. Also Attacking through the FLANKS will allow the Central midfielders to decide where the ball goes. Since both Alonso and Sonck will win some headers, and put some on frame.

Has anyone played both CM4 and EA Sport's Total Club Manager? I had the demo version of CM 01/02 and it was good, but TCM '03 was a little easier to navigate (plus it has a 3D match engine). Wondering if the new CM was better than TCM '04?

At first I thought all the options where overwhelming, but after about 4 days with it, I came to realize that every one of those options comes in handy. I'd say that they both have their strong points.
Championship Manager
-Great player attributes + hidden attributes do well to flesh out players while not making it obvious who will be a star.
-With out a doubt the most realistic transfer system ever in a game.
-Offers the true scope of managing a team. You feel like you're really in charge of steering this club to victory.
Total Club Manager
-Great 3D engine (admittedly a big plus in my book)
-Full logo licenscing, team photos and all that fun stuff. (you just have an authentic feel when you can look at the team you have created)
-increased player interaction give you the feeling that you really are dealing with these players.
It comes down to what is most important to you. I will say that with me, I was pretty much set on TCM for the 3D Engine, but after a while, it seemed kind of empty to me. CM just offers so much more over all.

I been on Big Soccer plenty of times and have only just stumbled across this CM thread. All i can say is thank god!
On CM 03/04, i have justed started as Blackpool again. I came second in div 2 and won the LDV trophy in my first year, so now im in div 1, ive played 4 games and lost every game (apart from thumping Hull 7-0 in the league cup). Now, to be honest, i didnt expect this at all. My squad on paper is formidable, in pre-season i signed....
Stefan Postma - Free
Nigel Reo Coker - Wimbledon
Patrick Agyemang - Wimbledon
Richard Rufus - Released from Charlton
Steven Caldwell - Released from Newcastle
Alan Tate - Man Utd
All those players plus the guys i already had such as Danny Coid, Keith Southern, Richie Wellens.
Now i know i have just been promoted but the new defenders i bought to go alongside Jean Dika (signed on a free, then went on to be capped for Cameroon - a great find), i didnt expect to leak so many goals. Can anyone help me and suggest a good tactic or formation, that will plug my leaky defence whilst still letting my creative midfielders create chances for my freescoring strikers. I would be very thankfull.
Oh and before i go, i thought i would just tell everyone about a player called Clovis Konsodiani-Kanda, he plays for Farnborough and can be picked up for a bargin 1k, i have bought him in 3 different games at 3 different levels and every time he has been awesome, check him out

I have another quick question. I just got through the 2010 world cup and many managers were fired afterward. I applied for some of the jobs, but then something wiered happened. the news screen kept going back to one of the messeges. it was a basic "fired" notice for one of the coaches, but it kept acting like i needed to respond to it. then once i was offered a new job, i wasnt able respond. I tried to figure a way around it, but I can't seem to respond to any type of messege. Is there anything i can do? Will it affect my game? I really don't want to lose this game. I'm runing CM4 with EP5 and no other add-ons. I remember seing someone with a similar problem, but i cant seem to find the post anymore and i dont remember how they solved the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the exact same problem with EP5. I assume you can't continue the game because the screen says you need to respond to a message. The only thing you can do is filter out job offers. You should be able to continue the game then. It will take about a month or 2 for that mesaage to be erased and then you can filter everything once again.

I did try to quit and restart the game, and the messege still came up. I also tried to filter out certain news items, but for some reason it always seems to show up, no matter what i filter out. I did see this one thing over on the SI forums that said to save as "CM4_strip_news" and restart the game, but I didnt get anything. Maybe i did something wrong, or i have to chage something in the shortcut? Anyway, i guess i'll just try to ignore it for now and see if it goes away, although I'll have to change the save name just so as not to mess up the game i had going. I wasted alot of time to just let this game go to waste

I'm interested in hearing if people will be staying with the CM title once SIGames goes to Sega. It sounds as though the new Football Manager 2005 will be pretty good.
Does anyone have any info/opinions on the split?

i personally think the break is very good for the consumer. sigames was the heart of CM and now it is like they are starting fresh, while keeping what made them the best. i really think they are going to iron out all the little things that have been causing problems (eg speed) while adding a ton of new features and fine tuning things. i think the fan input on the sigames forums are really going to be taken into consideration and used this time around. more than usual.
