I'm d/ling the 2nd Patch As we speak, I hear it does make the game faster. Which is good so I can start an Ajax Game. However, I hear it requires a somewhat funky install basically. If it doesn't work when you click on it originally, you may have to do a "REPAIR" then patch 4.1.3 directly to version. 4.10 (4.1.1??) The patch is large and Cumilative which is a pain for 56Kers like me.

Yeah, I'm a detail maven myself, gotta run all the leagues I can squeeze in, etc. I ended up making a seperate game with all the Asian/Americas leagues active, letting it go through the initial setting up while I slept. :D Haven't played it yet, but the hard part's done.

I've read that there are some errors in the new patch that will be fixed in the next couple of days. For what it's worth I'm holding off in upgrading.

Erm, on CM4 I could run 22 leagues at blistering speeds. On CM 0304 running just 5 leagues on large database is slow as hell, even with the new patch. The game is slow no matter how many leagues you run compared to CM4. That's a fact. Am I supposed to run just one league because some people are happy with that? Where's the fun in that.

Last night after a 7 season struggle, I lead the resource poor third division Southend Shrimpers to the Premiership. In one feel swoop I managed to clear the clubs debts and hopefully lift them out of receivership. I have two original members of the team when I took over the squad and have several players, including three of my starting defenders who have been with me for six years.

Now the struggle continues as I have a small transfer budget (better than the last 2 years of none) and my best player is about to leave the club because I can not afford his salary demands.

Man, I love this game.

I can't believe some of these clowns think that we should just quietly accept that the game can't run at a decent rate the number of leagues that they say it can. I mean hey, that whole Truth In Advertising thing was SOOOO Last Century, yanno?

I'm now up to 05/06 with QPR, managed to get 2nd place in Div 2 the previous season, only missing first by losing the end of year battle for all the marbles with Swansea. I'm floating comfortably in midtable mediocrity in Div 1 at the moment, which is just fine by me giving the financial situation. Though making the 5th round of the FA Cup, then drawing Leeds at home to set up a lucrative replay will help. :D

The first team I managed was East Fife in Scotland. To this day, I have to regularly go to their website to see how they've been doing.

More CM4 wackiness. Here's the groups for WC 06:

Group A: Brazil, Canada, China, Germany
Group B: Argentina, Colombia, England, Italy
Group C: Denmark, Nigeria, T&T, USA
Group D: Ghana, Hong Kong(!), India(!!), Sweden
Group E: Australia, Portugal, Spain, Wales
Group F: Cameroon, France, Norway, S. Korea
Group G: Senegal, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay
Group H: Holland, Mexico, Morocco, Slovakia

*Asian qualifying saw a first round group of S. Korea, Japan, Iran and Saudi Arabia. One of the 2nd round groups was India, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Qatar finished 3rd in the other group, then lost a playoff to Canada.

I have officially trashed CM 0304 and will never play it ever again. It was bad enough that the game was extremely slow but playing the game was even worse. I finally settled on medium database with ddt files retaining players from most clubs in europe. This speeded the game up tremendously. But this only let me see how bad this game is. First of all, I played as Milan and had a bad first season because, I thought, my tactics were crap. But in the offseason I bought some big time players like Henry, Diego, Bonera, Solari, Van der Vaart, etc. I finally found a tactic that was dynamite and it created tons of chances each game and rarely leaked any chances to the opposition. The only problem was my team couldn't score. Every game Sheva and Henry would be one on one with the GK at least 3 or 4 times each. But they missed almost every chance by shooting over the bar. It get's really annoying when you dominate a match so much but your world class strikers with finishing of 19 and 20 can't even shoot on target from 5 yards out. It is even worse when you look at the stats after every game and you see you had 35 shots on goal(20 on target) and the opposition has 2 shots on goal and the final score is 1-1. This happens every game. This is a major bug that SI said they fixed but it is not fixed and it makes the game unfun. That is why I play the game. For all CM4's faults, and there are many, at least I had fun playing that game. And I think I will go back to it now since I can't bear to go through another season in CM 0304. OK sorry, end of rant.

the over the bar thing is crap, they tweaked it for 4.1.3 (did u download the patch yet?), but it is still bad. with a good training program tho its not a problem anymore.

I'm using 4.1.3. Almost all my players were getting better according to my training schedules so it's not that. Plus it's not some muppets who are missing easy shots, it's Henry and Shevchenko who are 2 of the best finishers in the game.

And unfortunately I did buy the game so I have reason to complain.

i know you are talking bout sheva and henry, the sad thing tho is it a problem with everyone. have you created a special training program just for your forwards?

and what made you decide to buy the game? cuz when u had the warez version u were still complaining

I don't use any special training programs. But I can see that Henry and Sheva have finishing of 19 and 20 and obviously you can't get much better than that. I usually let my Assist Manager take control of training and all my players usually get much better because my assist manager is top notch. But when the game starts it's a whole different story in CM 0304. Henry and Sheva are consistently sent through on the keeper and they consistently blow the shot. Most of the time the keeper doesn't even need to make a save since they balloon the shot over the bar.

I pre-ordered CM 0304 and it didn't arrive until 3 weeks after it was out. I downloaded the warez version because I got too impatient. I made a mistake in pre-ordering it. If I know now what I know about this version I wouldn't have bought it. Hopefully all of the bugs in this game are Eidos fault and SI's new manager game will be much better when they go thier own way.

Check the SI forums for other cool dl's as well. (e.g, an expanded commentary patch, expanded media patch, backgrounds and logos for every team, editors, search/scout programs, great training schedules-Lyssiens in particular, tactics, etc.)
