Ok, I posted my regrets cuz I didn't know that a game developer reads this forum, until some poster pm'ed me, that's why I wanted to express that I'm sorry, I will buy CM4 (if I can find a place here in Central America)

but I still want CM-01-02 in original!!! :D

On a different note, anyone know if there are plans for Mexico's league to be added in the next addition? I'd love to play that league (or any of the other South American leagues). Because there's no promotion in the US, I rarely play in MLS. Just doesn't seem right. But I also like playing in non-European countries.

I just bought CM3 off of ebay. $14 including international shipping. Can't wait for it to arrive.

I don't think there have been any official announcements over what leagues are being included in cm4.

check out this site for info about CM4.
There are a couple of unofficial screenshots.
If those screenshots are accurate than it seems that the game layout has been redesigned.
the last few editions have had the same basic layout but those screenshots show a different style.

There have been a number of fans creating unofficial screenshots for the games, which are just based upon what they want to see.

How do youth players work? I have sent my scouts to find youth players, and they have reported back with their findings. If I sign them, do they join my youth team, or do they join the reserves? I already have a crapload of players and don't want to overload the reserves. Is there a better time to get youth players? Should I just wait until I have some space? I read on here once that if your squad is too big, youth players won't get promoted. So does that mean youth players just take care of themselves? Thanks for any help.

There are no youth teams in CM 3. There are only reserve teams and senior teams(Unless you are Barca, Real, Valencia, etc. in Spain, they have B teams). If you sign a youngster as a decent player or hot prospect he will go to the reserve team. Anything above that he will go to the senior team. But it doesn't really matter because you can promote and relegate at will between the reserve team and the senior team.

I've purchased every version since cm2, and I suggest you do the same from now on. Honest.

Give me money and I will buy it. I think it's a pretty safe assumption that SI is aware of all the illegal copies of CM out there. I don't think whoever it was saw this thread and said "What? There's illegal copies of CM out there?!?!? Oh my god!"

If I was a game creator, and someone loved the game but couldn't afford it, I wouldn't have a problem with them having a copy of it in hopes that they'll buy the next version when they can afford it. And that's what most people do with this game because it's so great. Sure I feel guilty about not buying this copy, and that will lead me to buy it someday.

But also, such lax security features on the game is also kind of asking for it. I believe it was 99/00 that the demo available from their website could be easily changed to a full version.

Atty General John Ashcroft has been asked to crack down on the peer to peer file sharing networks like Kazaa for just this reason. People are downloading stuff and not paying for copyrighted things.

I, perhaps naively, thought Kazza was on the level because there was no hype surrounding them ala Napster. I never could get any of the games I downloaded off there to work.

To kind of back this up, my first version of CM was an illegal version downloaded off the net. I can't buy it in a store here in the US, and I wanted to try it out first. So I used my high speed connection an got it from some site I found out about. And it worked great, and in less time than it would have taken me to order it online and have it shipped, I was playing. Now if it had been available in a store, I would have gone and bought it (as that would have been faster). But it wasn't and I didn't.

When 01/02 came out, it was the 1st thing on my Christmas list. Actually it was the only thing on my Christmas list because I generally go out and buy things I want myself. But I saved CM as a Christmas present because, while I could have ordered it, it would take time to get here. Why not have someone else do it.

When the next version comes out, if it's not available in stores here in the US, I'll likely try to download a copy first (and not the website's demo). If I can, who knows, I might not even buy an official copy. But I can promise you that if I can go to my local software/gaming shop and pick a copy up with my own hands, I will on day 1. I don't particularly trust buying online, and with a game like CM, that's been the only way to get it (barring illegal means). That's just how it is. I just like buying things AT A STORE where I can pick up what I want and carry it to the counter, and then take it right home, not have to wait days (or weeks) to get something shipped to you.

So please, SI Games, ship a few copies to at least ONE Indianapolis gaming store! I know of 5 other people in the area that have a recent version, but not all of us have the latest because some of us don't like online ordering.

You guys are really missing the point. Things like software aren't your god given right, if you can't afford it, you do without it. I can't afford a Porsche, is it cool if I take one and "try it out"?

This doesn't need to slip into a pro/anti pirating software arguement, it'll go no where.

I have no problem downloading a game trying it for a few days THEN ordering it, not "i'll play it non stop the next 4 months until the next version comes out".

You're obviously all online, and thus capable of ordering it online, so "it's not in the store" crap doesn't hold any weight; I even think there was comments that you can DOWNLOAD it after ordering it, not sure on this point though.

The reason it isn't available here in the US is because of legal issues regarding the use of players/team names.

They even had to remove photos of any teams/players in 01/02 due to these legals reasons.

Also there isn't enough of a market here in the US to put it on store shelves, it just wouldn't sell. Online ordering is perfect for this type of game that is a niche product.

I'm sure the guys from SI aren't going to lose any sleep over the fact that the software is pirated, it's going to happen no matter what, but to sit their and flaunt it when you know someone personally involved is listening is rude. I mean it's like me having an affair with your wife, and then laughing about it while you listen (well not that bad, but you get the idea).

I don't want an argument about pirating either but your examples are way exagerated, I understand your reasons about the familiarity with this guy(s?) but I simply downloaded cuz there's no chance in the whole Central America to buy it and the regular post office is not precisely secure (as well as in other third world countries) also there's no chance that I can afford couriers to ask for the game via online so I already posted my apology and I still hope to get my copy!!! :)

PS pls send a couple of copies of CM 4 to El Salvador or any other neighbour country ;)

Hi guys. Our previously mentioned SI guy has posted a web site where you can purchase the game for DOWNLOADING (no store needed, nor need to go through any post office-thanks Mr. Vaughan). heres the link to his post:

Wow... if you're not the king of bad anologies, I dunno who is.

First off... a lot of effort actually went into making your specific Porsche and you can't just simply go to your driveway and say, "Porsche, copy yourself!" and boom, there's an identical copy. If that was the case then your analogy might work, and everyone would want a copied porsche.

Second, I'm sure there's just a few more emotions attached to having your wife cheat on you than have someone say they're one CM copy of 3 million copies is illegal.

No one on here is stupied enough to say that illegal software is my god-given right, because it clearly isn't, and it's clearly wrong. There's a couple things that both sides can do to help this issue. If you download the game, promise to buy a copy of it, which I have when there is actually money in my pocket. And on the other hand, if you don't want people to copy your game, make it tougher to copy, and CM is pretty easy.

And I love your quote about how they are having copyright issues with player names and such... you are aware that what they are doing might not neccesarily be illegal as they are not selling it in the US, but it is wrong because these leagues are due money for licensing rights fees. And just because it's not being sold IN the US, doesn't mean it's not being sold TO the US, which it is. So at the same time SI might be mad at us for copying the game, they don't have a whole lot of room to complain because they are they are getting away with not paying hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in liscensing fees worldwide. You might say "Well they don't have enough money to pay all those fees", well I don't have enough money to give them right now too. Now let's just hope everyone shows a little bit of honesty in the end.

So get off your high-horse, which really isn't so high since you're nothing more than a sheep. Think a little.

We pay for licences in every territory that the game is released in, and are legal in every way possible ... we employ lawyers to ensure this.

Where we cannot obtain the required licences to release the game we do not do so, simple as that.

We are currently negotiating for an American release and I would love the game to be released in America, not least because I followed the MLS when I lived there and think its a very good league (not as 'technically' good as some of the European leagues, but less cynical tactically in general imho).

"And on the other hand, if you don't want people to copy your game, make it tougher to copy, and CM is pretty easy. "
We do our best and will hopefully make things harder for you next time.

Just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should however .... tut tut .... (etc.).

Basically, please buy the game - if you don't then Sports Interactive might not sell enough copies to stay afloat ..... this would cause me to lose my job and drift aimlessly as a broken and depressed homeless bum .... no you wouldn't want that on your conscience would you ;)

Incidentally in case my please has touched your heartstrings, you can purchase the game via. download from:

Have Fun,

But you still sell the game on-line to that area. It's just merely a loophole. I don't have a problem with it, but if Profiled is going to harp on people for having an illegal copy of the game, he should realize that the users aren't the only ones bending the rules a bit. As you said, you have lawyers that check up on these things, which I assumed and expressed that in my last post, that it's perfectly legal to sell it here, but if you can't sell it in the country, sell it on-line to that country, right? It's a good buisness decision though.

Good, I'm sure with each release it gets harder and harder as it should with the development of new technology. And I know it's wrong, see....

While I don't think my one copy will make or break you guys, your point is well taken and understood. I want to give you guys money, so you can always be around and provide me with excuses to not goto class, to call-in sick to work, and to ultimately not end up graduating and not being able to hold a job and drift aimlessly as a broken and depressed homeless bum .... ;) But we'll both just have to wait until my broke ass college student pockets can afford it. And until then, thanks for making a great game. :)
