The save game file always carries on increasing, but at a slower rate after the initial few years. When you reach the maximum number of games stored, the game has less new information to store each season, but it will keep going. I think mine manages about an extra 2Mb per season now, 350Mb overall.

Probably overly ambitious chairman or impatient chairman.

Is it still Jesus Gil there?
Because I rememeber a few years ago, Athletico went through about 15 managers in about a year. He's just one of those characters I guess.

In other news... I've managed to get QPR to the Premiership.
Any tips on how to stay up?
Overall I'm just wary that the players who dominated my last season (finished the season on 112 points or something) will just not hack it at the top. I've bought a few players but I'm still not convinced.

I guess my training thing may be the way to go with what I've got. Anybody got any tips as to how to get the stars up, and how to keep them there? It's usually 3 stars, sometimes 4, but not for long, and certainly never 5.

Will my much loved tactic of 442 with the crosses being whipped in, still have any success or do I have to be more clever?

Basically general tips for staying up would be nice.

I have never had trouble staying up after I get promoted. You shouldn't have trouble unless your team is not promotion material which means you cheat to get your team promoted.

You need to identify the weaknesses in your squad and try to repair the holes BEFORE you get promote. I sign a lot of players through bosman. go to find player section and do a filter on players whoes contract are going to expire. see who can improve your squad.

I took a team from serie C2 to serie A in 8 seasons. I spend exactly ZERO transfer fee entire time. I sign all my players for free.

You should be able to stay up after promotion, but it doesn't always work out that way. Players lacking form, and if you haven't done too much strengthening, can result in dropping straight back down.

I just bought a new computer. I am playing CM01/02 with all leagues open and maximum database. The game goes very smooth and very fast.

My spec is AMD XP 3000+ 2.15G processor, Abit motherboard up to 400 FSB, 1G of RAM. IDE Hard drive running 7200 RPM. plus sound, video, wirless card, CDRW/DVD and etc....

The whole thing just cost $850. That's really cheap for a kickass system. 2-3 years ago top of the line system would cost around $2000. AMD XP 3200+ just came out but still in the pricy side. My system is as good as money can buy right now for a PC. I didn't buy this system with the purpose of playing games since I don't have good multimedia accessories, but it's great for playing games like CM. :D

I did a bit of research before I bought the system. I think XP3000+ still runs faster than any Intel based processor that goes over 3 Ghz.

This game runs extremely fast on the new system I bought. I thought some people might be interested at the spec. $800 is very cheap for a top of the line system. Mine is custom built. If you buy a name brand PC, add $500 on top of that.

I got CM4 about a month ago from Ebay.

My first game was with Reading, but I quit after 15 games cuz I was doing awful.

I started over with Chicago, and finished the first season 3rd in the East. Beat the Metrostars 1-0 on aggregate, but lost 2-1 to Columbus in the Eastern final, on a late Whitfield own goal.

Columbus beat Dallas for the title. MLS MVP was Zizi Roberts, top scorer was Ed Johnson. Vancouver won the Open Cup.

I'm about halfway through the second season, and I'm in first place. My team is pretty much the same, but I've signed Tyson Nunez, and got Memo after LA released him. Starts every game for my team. Also, LA traded me Califf for Perez, and I got Richardson on loan from Man Utd, but he wasn't that great.

The USA has been horrible. Under Arena, they only beat Monserrat 1-0, then lost all three at the Con Cup, including 1-3 to New Zealand and 0-6 to France. Arena was fired, and Bob Gansler took over. He was knocked out of the Gold Cup in the quarters by Honduras, then he was fired too. Bob Bradley's in charge now, and he lost his first game to Belgium.

I assure you that isn't the case.

The data stored for the matches in full detail does that, but the scorelines themselves are still stored, presumably each one takes up very little space, but just for the one league I'm running I'd guess somewhere in the region of 3,000 scorelines per season. You notice that.

All old data being deleted with time happened in CM97/98 though.

300 some megs is not too bad. I fear the save game would be over 1 gig after 100 seasons. That would make the game too damn slow.

Do whatever u can to win the title, and keep a watch on the USA Men's matches. When Bradley gets sacked apply for the job.

In my game, US has been doing horrible. US in WCQ just lost to Canada and finished in 6th place. Amazingly Bruce Arena is still the coach. Losing to Canada should be enough to get the sack. In real life US would never lose to Canada :)

My roommate downloaded cm4 and right now I'm starting my second season w/Arsenal. Finished 6th in the league, won the FA Cup, and was runner up in the champs league. Bought Donovan for 7 mil from Leverkusen. You can get some good steals on the transfer market if you play your cards right and this game is addicting. :)

Addicting doesn't even being to describe this game. Try Life-Destroying.

Played two more seasons with Chicago.

2004-Finished 2nd in the east on goal differential. Beat the Metros and DC in the playoffs, then won the MLS Cup over San Jose 2-1, Razov and Ralph scoring.

2005-Won the East, beat the Crew and Metros, then beat Colorado 3-1 to win my 2nd straight MLS Cup. Beasley, Memo, and Jaqua with goals.

Won the US Open Cup over Vancouver (2-time defending champs!) 2-0.

Beat a Panama club, America, and Chivas in the Champions Cup, but lost to Cruz Azul in the final.

Beat Chivas, San Jose, and Cruz Azul in the Copa Panamerica (like the libertadores), but lost to America in the semis.

I ended up playing like 55 games, and its really hard with a 24 man roster. I had 3-4 guys jaded, and another 5 hurt during the stretch run.

I have now been given $11 million in transfer funds, but I can only offer a salary of $210,000 a year. It's impossible to sign anybody good unless they're really young or old. I bought Keane, Makalele, Reyna, and they all turned me down.

The USA has been much improved under Bob Bradley, going 8-1-1 in the hex.
