I'm trying an experiment in CM....

I took over a first division Northern Irish team, and am taking over major clubs one at a time and buying my own players for ridiculous prices. So far, I'm a Northern Irish first division team with over 50 million pounds. And the first season is only a month old. :D

I'm really curious to see how this turns up. Sure, there's no challenge to it, but it's still a lotta fun! ;)

To the promoters of the Christmas tree:

are the defenders three central DF's or two wingbacks? I tried the wingback and I got my ass whupped. I have a pretty good crew too compared to the other teams.

Three DC's. Two DMF. Two WMF (R & L). Two AMF. One FWD.

I've just re-installed Cm 01/02, after disposing of CM4, is there any place except www/sigames.com that would have it? The download doesn't work from there.

Thanks,
Sean

LF, just out of curiosity, how a hawaiian ends as a 'Pool fan?

I'm not Hawaiian, I just live here. We're a military family and move around a lot. I lived in England for two years from 97-99. I fell in love with the game then, and started supoprting Liverpool because Friedel was there, and the rest is history...:D

As I've put on here multiple times I play 01/02 with one striker in the "christmas tree". I'm in a predicament. I've got a star striker (24) that already has 100 EPL goals. Over the summer I cut wages and went with a younger midfield to plan for the future. The striker is now upset because "the sale of Troise shows the clubs lack of ambition". Troise just happened to be the captain of the Italian Nats, but never performed for my team and was getting $100,000/week. So I sold the guy for $25,000,000. Can you blame me?

But now I've got 6 months until my stiker is unprotected and he wont sign a new contract because he's upset. The "lack of ambition" has resulted in a huge increase in goals (in a string of 5 games I scored 20 goals). The striker isn't scoring as many goals, and in fact his backup had a hat trick when I subbed him.

I dont want to sign any more players this year, but it seems to me that only going out and signing one of the best players in the world would please this guy. Anyone seen this problem or have a suggestion as to what I can do?

Meh.... Sounds like this kid will probably end up being more trouble than he's worth. If you got 25M from your transfer, you should have plenty of money to go out and buy another superstar stiker.

Yeah, I'm worried that he's going to be nothing but trouble as well. Right now he's valued at 30M and dumping him would give me a huge amount of money to sign anyone. But hes probably the best young striker in the game right now, so more players and my board of directors would get pissed if I sold him. I could sign a player in their late 20's but at 24 (he started with me at 21) I was looking forward to signing him and keeping him for over a decade and making a superstar.

Well, what does the board think of you right now? If you can sign another striker and keep winning matches, even if they're upset at you letting him go, they'll shut up pretty quickly.

Does anyone else refuse to sign anyone over the age of 25?

Or is it just me?

I just have a hard time paying a ton of money for older players who have little left in the tank and who ask for enormous wage bills.

I try and sign anywhere from 19-24 for a new starter. Every once in a while I'll sign an older player (25-29) if I have a very big need for a role to be filled or if they're just a badass that became available. I'll never sign a player over 30.

Thats why I dont want to dump this striker, he has 100 goals in just under two and a half years and he's 24. But I may be forced to because if I let him go unprotected I'll get way less money than I could get now.

Unless I have to I'll rarely buy anyone over thirty, although happy enough going for guys over 25. Although my oldest signing was 51, and he played a crucial role in an earlier game of mine. Was a useful player in my only ever back to back Conference titles (with the same club).

Sell him, its a lose-lose situation if you dont have enough support of your Board you'll get 'em pretty upset for release him for free! Rivaldo anyone?

Update:

He all the sudden is happy to stay at the club and is requesting $150,000/week for his new salary! Hes that good though, and I'll be able to work him down to about $120,000.

But now the team has gone cold and can't score many goals and is having a hard time getting results. While he was pissed the team was winning by 3 goals most games. Weird.

I'm in my fifth season at West Ham and I've turned the Irons into a world powerhouse. I've won 2 EPL titles, an FA cup, the UEFA cup and, just last year, my first Champion's League title. Just like the real West Ham I keep getting knocked out of the league cup by lower league sides. My three man front line of Ronaldinho, Martin Palermo and Tonton Zolo Mokouko blitzed everyone who dared stand in my way. I'm at the point in the game where alot more new players are invented so I can't rely on my old standbys anymore.

In CM00/01, he's a swedish attacking midfielder/forward who starts off at Derby. He rarely plays and you can get him on a free in a year or two. He immediately plays really well and only gets better. He's one of the players that I always pick up in my games.
