Can anybody give me a good tactic for Madrid? Among my purchases have been Fabian Estoyanoff, David Aranzubia, Benjamin Kibebe, and Boris Gonzalez. I've sold Figo and Macca. I've just finished my 1st season practically undefeated, but I don't believe in using the same tactic two years in a row.
Bye
Thanks in advance!

I've suddenly had a rash of goalkeeping gaffs. Two matches in a row the keeper has given up a penalty late in the gaem or very early in the match. Then there have also been so many missed chances in front of goal. It's getting annoying. Usually my teams gie up more than their share of goals, but I've always had great totlas at the end. This year my defense is decidedly stingier, but I can't seem to score except against lousy opponents.
Maybe their is something programmed in agaisnt Le Harve Athletic Club... :p

In 00/01, your manager can get hired while on holiday (option is only to enable applying for higher-reputation clubs). I've been coming back every couple years anyway to clear the unread news and see how international teams are doing, finally ended up playing on with Boulogne (French NAT). Been stuck near the bottom all season with only 2 wins, but a boatload of draws, unfortunately I just made a few players unhappy for slapping a 2 week fine on a repeat late-for-training player (can't get 1 week fine). :P

You shouldn't get hired by anyone if you don't have that option selected.

trying to manage cardiff, and i have tried every trick i know, all the 'wonder players' and all that crap, but my defense is still indescribably bad. my keeper is letting in 2-3 every match and is still running straight 8s for ratings.....that's how bad it is.
what the hell?

If that's the case, it's most likely your defenders that are having issues. It might be wise to see if your backs are playing zone or man marking and if they have the necessary attributes to handle said system.
You could also diagnose the problem by checking the match commentary and see how your defense is getting beat, i.e. out-jumped on headers, too slow or the ever popular "He had lost his marker."

Another 5th place finish. :( But the board are delighted and my financial status is extremely secure...
I hate when my best players suddenly decide tey need a new challenge and want to be transfer listed. I've got this guy Zico Tumba, and he's been amazing for me. Sudden;y he decides he wants to move. THen of course no one bids for him. Ah these fickle stars... :(

See if you can get Ged Kimmins from England. You might have to sell a player or two to get him, but he should be less than 50k. Well worth it while your in a lower division. He scores loads of goals, but his numbers aren't that high. I always go for him when I start out at a lower club.
Also find a good scout and start a youth search. Sometimes you can find a gem that no one else has found. Try to sign him as a "decent young player" and then put him in the first team if he's good enough. That way his wages will be low.
Hope that helps.

Managing Man U, sold Veron to Barcelona for 40 million, then bought Davids, Hasselbaink, Friedel, Desailly, and Lizarazu and won the treble.

Hmm, how about some tips for setting the With Ball/Without Ball tactics? My players always appear in a mad jumble in the lower left corner for some reason. :P

You can manually move them with your mouse. Then save the tactic. You can also use the reflect button to make them do the same thing on the other side.

LF, just out of curiosity, how a hawaiian ends as a 'Pool fan?

Never mind, I finally figured out how to change the 'active' part of the pitch, and noticed how they moved accordingly, looks all right now.

Enhancement Pack 4 (http://www.sigames.com/news_view.php?act=2&id=685) for Championship Manager 4 is now available for download.
As EP4 contains no player-data update (just bug fixes and some other features), don't forget to first download and install Enhancement Pack 3 (with data) (http://www.sigames.com/downloads_view.php?id=314) if you haven't already done so.
