You have to have database set to max for him to show up. He plays for Salford in the game initially. Great lower division striker. I'll see how he does in LeChampionnat since I won the French 2nd division in my first season in charge. :)

Is anyone else having trouble taking over national team duties for USA? I started the game with Leeds in England, but set USA as MLS only full detail because I wanted to add a manager in charge of the national team... But it won't let me, yet I can add one to England, Spain, and Italy which are the other leagues I set... Do you have to wait till MLS kicks off in 03 for the position to become available?...
Any help would be appreciated...

If you could do the 2120 season tables that would be very cool, seeing as we'll all be dead by then. (Just as a side note I've been simulating a pseudo-league for over 40 seasons using a certain PBEM simulator and saving the progress at the end of each season, but all of the teams are made up, so I'm really intrigued with this stuff.)
I note:
Bolton
Leicester
Man Utd !
Blackburn
Soton
Ipswich
AND...
looks like Dag & Red finally got in, and Forest Green didn't collapse.
Hmmm, interesting...
Droylsden (2085/1) ?
As in they last won the title in 2085, which was the only time they've won it. Actually no longer true, have got through another three seasons. Sunderland taking the first and then Droylsden taking the next two. So these are the 2122 tables:

I'm now manager of England, taking over with them 103rd in the world rankings. Directly below Tonga, and a place above Norway. Drawn my two games in charge.
Took two seasons to get out of the Conference with Hayes. First time out narrowly missing out to Marlow, after beating them to go top late on, promptly drew six on the trot. That season my wage bill was rougly the size of the next three clubs in the division put together.
Most of it was utter rubbish signed by a previous manager, so I had to bring new talent in, hence my reserve team wage bill was more than anyone else for their first team.
Second season was doing well getting rid of these, and still chasing promotion. Just pipped Carlisle to the title after they lost their penultimate match at the Shay, which also condemmed Forest to the drop.
However, someway through the second Conference season I got a new chairman, Bobby Bass, and with that my maximum wage allowed went down from about £3,000 to £300. Therefore stiffling my attempt to bring new talent in.
Back into the third division, but failing to win any of my first seventeen games in all competitions, and with the maximum wage about £600 now. Squad size had dropped to 19 at one point, and with about six of my real gems all coming to the ends of their contract I was looking to lose my team. Improved a bit with a few wins, but then the England manager got sacked (for finishing bottom of the World Cup qualifying group), me sitting in 22nd place it was time to leave. Needless to say my replacement won six on the trot early on, and finished quite highly, although the board did want a playoff spot.
And I did get a game moved through Blackburn playing in the UEFA Cup, winning the League Cup as a third division side.
Dagenham were Conference winners back in 2001.

I see scoring is way down in 2122, 40 goals for the league champion? Ouch. I remeber there being some fitness bug in the old CM's where hardly anybody had a stamina over 5 and players that did played into their 40's, but I thought they fixed that. Any idea why scoring is so low? players? tactics?

My best bet is that players are either weaker in offense or everyone plays catenaccio.

Funny thing about the scoring is that it has gone up over the past few seasons. There have been a couple of quiet periods in the game.
Back in the 2115/6 season Norwich finished in second with 23 goals, making them the highest scorers, Swansea successfully defending the title with 22. Which was seven more than when they took the 2114/5 crown.
And Slough managed 27 over four seasons in the third division. Avoiding relegation each time.

The latter being the case. When players get transferred to leagues which aren't active they'll score a lot of goals.

CM4: Excellent
but where in gods name in the international instruction panels for players?
I had 13 players go on international duty last week for celtic on the same day I had to go and play ajax in amsterdam, I ended up having to play under 18's and got horsed!

Question for anyone else who has CM4 and is playing an A-League side.
Are you losing an insane amount of money? Playing as Indiana Blast until the next 2 patches come out, just to see what it's like. I took over the team, and have added only one contract to the squad. I'm still under my wage budget, but only 14 players under contract. Grounds maintainence is eating up something like $150k a week! And my ground is only 6600 or so seats. So I was a squad of 14 plus 2 gray players. Went looking for loaners, and was able to loan in about 6 players from around the world (France, Spain, Argentina, Brazil) til the "end of current season", with me paying nothing of their salaries. But I'm losing money like crazy, with no end in sight.
At the rate it's going, I'll be easily a million dollars in debt before this first season ends, and that's with adding the one free transfer for $40,000 annually.
I only chose Indiana because I've read so many complaints about the game, figured my first CM4 game wouldn't be my 'main' game (playing in the US loses a bit of fun as there's no pro/rel, and I like taking small clubs), as well as Indiana being my home town club, and wanting to see if I could get them an Open Cup win. In 2nd place behind Cincy, and my first Cup match (AT Chicago) is up soon. And to top it all, one of my loaned in players just got called up for Belgian International duty!
Gotta say I'm a bit disappointed so far. Looks to have huge potential, but probably won't live up to it at least until "Enhancement Pack" 3 comes out. EP 2 is due out any day, I guess.
Parkhead, the international conflict with european cup games is known about and supposed to be fixed soon.

No rush. You can't play it that in depth yet. Hopefully the third or fourth patch will fix that.

CM4 arrived yesterday. See you all in 9 months time!!
Seriously though, how is everyone doing with it. I'm new to CM and find it quite dauting the amount of options available. I checked out the forums on the Official site and had a look oat some unofficial sites aswell.
I seem to be doing better with a 442 than anything else but have picked a ************ team to start with - Torquay. Anything but relegation will be an achievement.

If I dont plan on getting the game until around Christmas will the CD I buy have these fixes? Or will I have to get the enhancement packs anyways? I tend to screw stuff up on computers when I try to edit programs, etc. Its best for me to just have a CD, pop it in, and go.

Hmmm, while its nice there's another patch out there it certainly wasn't as much as I had hoped for when compared to the list of things planned in EP3. Only MLS thing mentioned was the stadium maintenace bug. Never had any problems with that as Rochester, but then again that's not MLS. Well when I get home from work I'll check it out and see if it's enjoyable, if not then its back to my old Margate CM3 game til EP3 comes out (probably need to restart the game after that patch anyway so why bother).

They usually don't have the patches on the retail CD, but I remember SI would offer patches on CD for basically the cost of S&H for peeps without internet access. If you're not getting it until X-mas I'd assume there's going to be a lot of patches so it wouldn't be the worst thing to look into getting the patches on a CD. Although the CM patches are pretty simple to intall, the only problem you'd have is if you only had 56k modem, then it would take quite a while to download the patch.
