Quick question, if your reputation is good enough, can you get a job as a national team coach?

Game engine question.
I'm playing 01/02 on my Mac Ibook (OS X). I have been playing with Fiorentina, trying to resurrect the team from the dead.
Suddenly on September 16 - I get "Processing, please wait"
and I wait and wait and wait.

You just have to click on the nationality of a player before you take control of club. And just take control of the national team. You can not take contol of every nation though, just the major ones. Most of europe, Argentina, Brazil, USA, Japan, South Africa, and some others.

If you've got 00/01 then you can pick up Helder Postiga on a free transfer. He's only 18, is willing to play just about anywhere and won't demand that much money. He'd also be able to step in immediately in your squad and start at any attacking position in the midfield or up top.

Oh Halifax is probly one of the hardest teams to manage. No money, only a couple decent players, and no fans. Try Rushden and Diamonds, they are loaded with cash.

I can honestly say I've only been sacked once. It was my first time playing CM3 and for some reason I played with Barca. I won the league by 20 points over Real Madrid in my first season but lost in the QFs of the CL. In my second season I was 3rd in the league but I was going to the CL Final when I got the sack. I was shocked. The only job I got offered was Reading in the English 2nd or 3rd Division. And I promptly brought them up to the EPL in 5 seasons. I then got offered the West Ham job and took them to European glory winning the Champions League a couple seasons later over who else Barcelona. Sweet Revenge.

Well done in your later stages of your career.

I've only been sacked when I tried to get Man U relegated using my patented "0-0-11 Corner Stall" tactic.

In regards to that national team question...if you don't take control from the beginning, can you apply for or be offered the job? By the same token, if a successful national team coach wants to move to the club level, how easy is it? Or do you have to start from the bottom?

Yes, you can be offered a national team job. Never happened to me, but I've read other people say they have.
Once I started as Argentina, and after they sacked me, I got the job at River Plate, which is one of the biggest jobs in Argentina. It depends on your rep when you go for the club job. Since I had a won a World Cup, my reputation was pretty good :-)

ok... im new to CM and have a few questions. you can play unlimited seasons right? There's never and end or last season right? i'm asking this because i heard of people playing up to 2019 and further. well if it is like this then the current players will get old and retire right? well then were do the new players come from. i played the demo and understand that there are u-21 teams and players that are as young as 14. but eventually these players will get old and retire too if you play for long enough. So what happens when you run out of players? do u have to download something or add new players yourself?

After a player retires he is regenerated into a new player. In older versions of CM you could find out who the newer player used to be(i.e Christian Vieri is one of the few Italian/Australian players in the game so when he retired you would just search for a 16 year that was Italian/Australian and he would be the same as Vieri at 16). But in the newer versions of CM it is impossible to find out who a regenerated player used to be. It is more random now. Christian Vieri could be regenerated into an Albanian with a potential of only being a crap player at best. The farther along you go into the game the more you rely on your scouts because you do not know who the players are. In the beginning there is some name recognition so you don't have to scout Patrick Viera because you already know he is a great player. But later in the game great scouts will be needed.

but what is the regenerated player's name going to be? is he going to be a real actual player who or is he going to be a fictional player who is just a made up character?

He'll have a fictional name. There's a list of 1st, last and nicknames for each nation (ethnicity?), and names are randomly generated for new or regenerated players.
It's the same thing if you choose to use fake players. I actually find that a bit better, since you don't know ANY skills, but my current game is using real names.
