I was playing with Rayo Vallecano de Madrid. I lasted four years with the club in which time the Rayo Institution improved its training facilities and added a youth Academy, expanded the stadium and financial status went from insecure to secure.
As a coach, Rayo reached Copa del Rey final losing to Real Madrid on pk's then i won the League SuperCup. I got to the semis of the UEFA Cup and reached the quarter finals of the Champions League. I rejuvenated the squad which now includes eight U-21 internationals including Kim Kallstrom, Cherno Samba, Tonton Zola Moukoko and Brazilians Diego and Bruno who won the Olimpic gold medal.
In my last season with the club i got sacked while we were in 14th place only 3/4 pts from 8th and about 5pts from 6th. In all the previous seasons the board expected to battle bravely against relegation and this season they wanted a respectable league standing. Anyways i let the game run and after a few months i couldnt get a job anywhere, not even with lower league clubs. All this while Crap managers got chosen over me. I even had three Spanish league awards.
Anyone know how long it usually takes to get offered another job or can you only change clubs while still being an active coach !?!?!?

Sounds like a case of el hombre keeping you down.
How's your reputation rating, both in Spain and worldwide? If it's too low in Spain, you might consider looking abroad (not at a broad) for employment.
The longest I've ever been unemployed/doing radio is a month or so.

Has anyone played enough in South America, Argentina specifically, to determine how you qualify for the Copa Libradores(yeah I now I spelled it wrong, I think) and Copa Metroconte(or whatever it is). I have played 4 seasons so far and has won the closing championship once and we are 4th in the average points table yet lower placed teams will qualify over my Newell's Old Boys. Anyone know of a bug or anything?

I am rated as GOOD and ranked one of the Top 10 coaches of Spain. I also should have a good reputation Internationally since i did good in UEFA Cup and Champions League. I have three leagues running La Liga, Premiership and Serie A and no team would take me in, Not even Serie B clubs..
Anyways i retired and started a new Manager from the same Game. I want to see how far the Rayo squad that I left can go, so far the new coach has brought in a legion of no good players and relegated many of my promising prospects to Rayo B.
With my new Manager profile i have taken over Brescia, the year is 2005 and they have been relegated to Serie C1A !!! The team is bankrupt and im only left with the overaged players that used to be the reserves. To make matters worse the Health and Safety inspector Closed down part of the west stand !!! The only good thing is that we are currently in first place and good enough to win back promotion to Serie B..

I've been rated as the best manager in the world and in saapin and still been unemployed for years. often clubs sack a manager, I apply, and then they reemploy the old manager. Maybe i'm too well qualified.

Started playing CM 01/02 again last week (always come back for more eventually :D)
Took Rushden & Diamonds... but it's not going too well at the moment. I'm currently in the 05/06 season I believe and after being relegated from Div 1 I'm having some trouble in the 2nd Division. Ranked 7th after 23 games.
I want to change the tactics from 4-3-1-2 (which I've been using for almost all seasons, except two seasons in which I used a CDM)to 1-2-3-3-2 but I'm a bit scared to sell certain players. Currently thinking about how to go through with this.
Have a 14.600 stadium now, but lucky if 5000 come to see me in 2nd Div.
Once upon a time (bout two years ago) I managed to get into the EPL with R&D and had Kluivert up there :D

I've gone back to CM 01/02 recently as well. I've taken Coventry City to the top, winning the EPL and Champs League a handfull of times. I've now got the money and power to sign most players for $20MM or more. But even after expanding my stadium from 25000 to 30000, I still only average about 26000 per home game. Only when I play Birmingham or Aston Villa (real life geographic rivals of Coventry) can I come close to filling my stadium. Any suggestions?????
As for tactics, I've found my favorite is the 3-2-2-2-1. Two d-mids, two speedy wingers, two attacking mids/forwards with stamina, and one pure finisher. In the last three years with this lineup all but two of my starters' values have gone above $10MM.

I suppose you stole the idea from the tactics website or did you arrange the tactics yourself??
I personally prefer to arrange the tactics myself because I dont feel as satisfied if I use someone elses tactics.

Never even been to the tactics site. I developed this myself. It looks the same, but I dont have the central defender or the d-mids making runs forward. I've tried about every imaginable formation in the 14 seasons I've gone through, but I've stuck with this one for the last two and a half. It really relys on two great attacking mids and two great d-mids. I've gotten by with a great keeper, and average defenders.
Any help on my attendance issues I stated earlier?

I dont think you can really do anything about attendances..
the only thing you can do is win games ,win trophies ,etc.. and hope that more fans go to your games.
I once had a game with dusseldorf...I started off in the german regional division getting crowds of about 8,000 and eventually got promoted to the bundesliga and pulled crowds of 20,000+..
I think its all about success and maybe the style of play might influence the crowd...
A good style of play might impress the fans.

I've been in the top 4 of the EPL for at least 6 years now. I score more goals than all but a couple teams each year, and I've got lots of national team players. I've got all the things that one would imagine would pack the stadium every time. My best guess is that the game knows the population of the teams areas or fan base??? Because when I play a local derby, the stadium is full. I can only assume that is caused by the local visiting teams fans being able to get the extra seats. But even for Champions League matches I'm only getting 90% capacity.
Yes when I started in D1, I was getting 13K out of 25K for games, but now I'm up around 26K. My board wont let me build more capacity, I assume because I'm not selling out games.

Coventry arent a glamourous ,well-supported team in real life.
Maybe the makers of the game have created some kind of secret setting to decide how popular a team is based on real life...

This was what my thoughts were as well. But also, a team is going to become popular if they win lots of trophies. The average attendance is growing, about 500-1000 per successful year. Maybe it just takes that long.

even managing manU and winning at least some sort of silverware (multiple usually), i still dont consistently sell out. my low is usually around 55000, but i only seem to sell out huge games/derbys.

I believe this is because often a team attendance and stadium capacity is capped in the game settings. Some stadiums can be expanded, Newcastle's St. James can go up to 70,000 while some cannot such as Arsenal's Highbury (38,000). I believe that in real life they could not expand Highbury, which is causing them to move in the near future. Also even if your stadium expansion capacity isn't capped, attendances can still be low because their is little interest due to popularity rating and population. Some clubs are just smaller clubs in big cities, Tranmere will never be more successful than Everton or Liverpool. Leyton Orient and Brentford are no Arsenal or Chelsea.

So, I downloaded the demo and wanted to take a look at that before purchasing CM4.
Only, I can't. When I click on the icon to run the program, I get: Error 0x000D: Cannot open in fullscreen mode. Well, I don't know of any other modes, and I even went into properties, changed the screen mode, and that didn't help. I don't really care that the demo doesn't work, but, obviously, if the game doesn't run for this reason, either, there's no point in getting it. And that would be heartbreaking.
Any helpful ideas?
Thanks,
Ed
