Regarding CM4 being sold in the US, some awesome dude asked Marc Connolley about it...

Has MLS worked out a licensing deal with the makers of Championship Manager for their upcoming release of CM4? I am eagerly awaiting its release in March and would like to be able to buy it in the US instead of ordering it from overseas.
-- Christopher Hayes, Washington, D.C.

I’ve never played Championship Manager, but have recently checked out the site - sigames.com - where the downloads are available. As for your question, I found out this: MLS and the makers of CM are in talks for a U.S. version that would include all MLS teams and be available to buy here in the States. Nothing has been finalized, but if and when it is, it is expected to be available in April.

I'm 99.9% sure that all versions of CM4 will have MLS teams in it.

Is this just the same version for sale here, with maybe a US box?

Hey guys,

I am starting to work on an article on Championship Manager for cybersoccernews.com and would like to get some stories (of an MLS variety) of those who are CM addicts like myself. Please email them to firealarmbill@hotmail.com if you are interested in helping me out.

Cheers,

Bill Q.

Ok... I need help. I have hit a bump in the road. I took over Feyenoord two years ago when they had little talent besides Johan Elemander, and John Dahl Tommasson. I brought in some Swedish prospects to add more depth in the midfield and upfront. By the end of the year I have won the league, runners up in the DUthc cup and won the Champions Leaugue. The problem is that after the success of last year I was knocked out of the second group stage of the Champions League, a tough group (Arsenal, Leverkuesen, and Inter) bit i still felt i should have one. Won the Dutch Cup and finished third in the league. The second season we were inconsistent and could never get into the flow with one tactic. Do you have any ideas to help us get ready for next season?

Try a completely new formation. As the seasons go on, the opposition figures out what you normally do and adjusts to it.

Personally I use several different formations during the course of the year, adn that seems to work pretty well. Whenever I switch, I set the training to high for tactics for a few days.

how come all the stories i see are about guys winning europe and the like. I've had some good seasons in cm but just as many relegations and sackings.

i also find that ifyou go outside the english league, you tend to lose realism and detail.

don't get me wrong, i like playing the game, but its imperfections can be glaring. Also, the Scots players are WAY overrated. I think this was a question of appeasing customer base.

It all depends on what teams you choose to manage, yeah, so if you manage larger teams then it really isn't too much of a threat for relegation, and as far as getting the sack, just jump ship to another team.

If you mean Ronaldo and Figo being sold every other season between the same teams, it's a glitch that hopefully they're working on. Part of this will change based on how many leagues you have running, if you run the big 4 Eng-er-land, Deutschland, Espana, and Italia, it will be well less likely.

Yeah I knew they can break a tactic after a year or so. I usually change it at the beginning of the season but during that last season I tried the same thing and they never got into a rythem with the tactic.

I have never tried that Training method... I will for the beginning of this season though thanks!

Has anyone noticed how much of an affect weather will play in the game? I recently switched from MLS to England, and noticed that I'm playing games in hail and sub zero temperatures. Are there any things I should be changing in my strategy, because more of my players seem to get hurt now than when I coached MLS.

I find if the pitch is wet, you should set your tackling to normal, as hard tackling is less effective and seems to lead to more bookings. Theoretically, you want to play the ball through the air more if its wet, but I'm not sure that translates to the game.

I can say the same for myself, and some of these people, with their boasting about winning the champion's league eight straight times with Rushden and Diamonds, should admit that they cheat (and yes, I consider signing 18 year olds you know turn into superstars to be cheating). You know who you are! *Glare*

BTW, wasn't the demo supposed to be available on valentines day?

People would be shot if CM demo came out on Valentine's Day.

That would be heartless (pun intended)

I'd heard about the "MLS Bug" in prior CM versions, but is there an International Bug? Get this:

Managing Japan, I took them to the 2002 WC final (where we blew a two-goal lead and lost to Italy), won the 2003 and 2005 Confederations Cups, won the Asian Cup without allowing a goal, won all 16 WCQ matches (with the 2005 CC in the middle) with a +47 goal difference and I still got sacked at the end of 2005! What gives?

The JFA "were delighted at my performance" right after qualifying finished, but come Thanksgiving they were "very disappointed." Was it something I said?

Okay let me explain.

1) They don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Japan
2) The Federation President was sleeping with a lady of the night, but he was set up by a former VP of the federation.
3) Pictures were taken
4) the former VP's brother coaches at grampus 8
5) The President felt compelled to install a native as manager of the national team

They don't give you all this in CM, but they should.

1) No shizzle.
2) Bastardos!
3) She was over 18, I swear.
4) Leave Vicar out of this.
5) They went out in the round of 16, losing 4-0 to the same Argentines my boys had beaten in Buenos Aires one year prior. Shows what they know. :p

Bah. This is all just a conspiracy against me, isn't it?

Had more raised eyebrows after I got turned down for the Mexico job. Ended up turning down Airdrie and taking over for Frankie Farina in Australia (tough choice  ). After laying waste to New Caledonia, Fiji and the Solomon Islands in the 2006 OFC Nations Cup, I think we're off to a good start.

I plan on it.

Giving the Scottish winter a miss and getting in a second summer didn't play into my decision at all. Noooooooo....

was supposed to, but it's been pushed back to the 28th and the release date is sometime in March *supposedly* remember they have too keep up with the qualifyng changes, or possible changes in CONCACAF with the US possibly playing more games and all....that and I'm not sure if they're still working say on a certain league's structure that changes every year ...*cough* MLS
