i was also wondering this because in previous games players that were transferd in september and early october were in their new teams squad at the begining of the game but the season is half way through now.
Maybe they will be arranged transfers or somthing like that.

"Marc, how do the rosters work?... Will they be updated up to Feb 28, the release date?... Or will the final cut be made the first week or Feb?... Example - Bowyer.... Will he be on West Ham, will Dacourt be loaned to Roma?...."
They will be updated on the CD to two days before we give Eidos the gold master disk (it takes two days to soak all the leagues and ensure database integrity through testing).
We will try and release at least one data update after the game is released, however this is not set in stone ....

Again, this tactic WILL work. In MLS it becomes a bit of a problem because most decent strikers you put up top will score 40+ in a full season, and be off to Europe shortly thereafter.
Basically WWW2 works so well, that the problem becomes that you get bored and want to try and work out a flat 442 or some such thing to make it more realistic.
Can you please give the website that the tactic is on.......this link does not work.

Awww, does this mean you won't be able to replay the 2002 World Cup with CM4? Considering I didn't bother with 01/02, it's the closest I could come.

at the end of the season, its like my team just quits.
playing with united, lost in the league and FA cup finals, CL semis, and lost my last for games to lose the title.
what the hell?

I've had some serious choking spells down the stretch as well. I've never done anything decent in the cups (maybe I won the vans trophy once with cambridge united), but I've had many, many seasons where I've dropped from 1st place to just barely making the promotion playoffs with a bad 6-game stretch at the very end of the season. Very frustrating.

Alrighty, I need a little help here training wise. I just ended a season with San Jose where we won the Mercanote Cup and Champions Cup. I now have a game against Boca in 49 days (it is Dec 6 in my game), and if I can pull this off, I think I go to the World Club Championship. However, when I reached this stage a few seasons ago and faced Santos, all of my players were dead tired!
Seeing as how it is the MLS offseason, how do I keep my players in at least reasonable shape for a shot at winning this game. Schedule friendlies? Different training schedule (I think all my guys are on medium fitness right now)?
Thanks,
Charles

If you won the Champions Cup then you will be in the Club World Championship, so don't worry too much about the game with Boca. As for getting your players in shape I don't think there is anything you can do. They will be tired up until one month before the first league match. Don't schedule friendlies before the Boca match either. It will lower their fitness even more if you do. The only players that will be fit are players who have been called up for an international match.

Spartak nailed everything dead on. Have a deep squad (11 for the first leg, another 11 for the second) if you want to try and win the Inter-American, but it's hard. It can be done. Try not to sub early in the first leg as there's no point in burning two players instead of one.
The best strategy, especially if the first leg is at home, is to try and absolutely pour it on in the first leg, win by as many goals as possible, and then bunker in the second game if you won the first by three or more.
But there's nothing you can do about the declining fitness. Just how the game is.
But it doesn't affect whether you make the World Club Championships.
The worst part about playing MLS is when a star player wants to leave for a bigger club and then signs with Kansas City or something...

Cool, thanks for the help guys. The only thing that is bothering me now is that I have won the Champions Cup in the past and have yet to play in the World Club Championship. I have won the Champions Cup in 2003, 2005 and 2006 (my current season), and the Mercanote Cup in 2004 and 2006. Would someone mind listing a hierarchy for the competitions?
I have the first leg in Argentina, but I'll see what I can do down there ;)
I agree, it pisses me off when a player declares grand ambitions, and then moves to another MLS team. I scored Edson Buddle from the Crew and after a season, he left on a Bosman as he was too good for the club...then LA picked him up. On the flip side, I had Derosario listed by request, and then he changed his mind saying "He believes this is a great club" or something to that extent. I am constantly amazed at the scope of this game.

The FIFA Club World Championships are only held every two years so in MLS you must win the Champions Cup in even years to qualify. Since you won in 2006 you should be in the next Club World Championship.

I just got version 3.9.60 today and when i press start new game it says
Error
v3.9.60 index...cpp 5773
But when i booted the game up for the first time, everything worked fine. I restart the computer, try to boot it up again, and that happens.
Any idea where i can download spare files?

The site is here:
http://cmtactics.cjb.net/
And you can find WWW2 under the 2-3-3-1-1 section for tactics. Lots of other tactics there too.

feeling a bit stupid here. I've downloaded some tactics from that web site, but how do I incorporate them into the game? I tried to choose 'load tactic' from the Tactics screen but that didn't work.
thanks

Save the file in the tactics folder in the CM 01/02 directory.
