I got mine from someone on ebay, and fairly cheaply as well. Give that a try.

I have recently gotten caught up in online management games, like hattrick, WES, and Itsagoal.com. So I checked out this thread yesterday, and went to download the demo last night. I tried it last night and wasn't that impressed.
Then I started playing at 11 today, and barely stopped until 5. I was starving, but didn't want to go eat. It's all I think about. I didn't know the meaning of the word addictive until I played this morning. And this is with the DEMO.
Being out of work and looking for a good, serious job, this is not what I needed right now. Thanks a lot guys!

I have recently obtained this game (01-02) and I have a few questions about it:
When you select your squad is there an easier way of telling which players I should start then clicking on each player and looking @ their attributes?
Is there a maximum number an attribute can be?
What do the number(s) under "form" mean? (some people have them and some dont)
Thanks.

Attributes are out of 20.
"Form" is their ratings from the last five games they played in. "8-7-9-7-6" means his last game he got a 6, the game before that a 7, the game before that a 9, etc. "7-6-7 - -" if he's only played three games this year, "- - - - -" if he hasn't played at all.
I could think of some other ways to pick your starting 11. You could use transfer values, so long as they are all set to "Auto" and you take into account the lower value of grizzled veterans or people in the last year of their contract. You could use form, if you just want to see which of your forwards has been hot recently, etc. After a year or so with your squad, you'll have a pretty good idea of everyone's important attributes (endurance, finishing, tackling, big game performance, whether they are injury prone, etc.) without having to check those screens before every game.
Hope that helps. Welcome aboard the CM obsession! Let me know if I can help in any other ways. Except tactics. You'll have to torture me to get the best of my tactical knowledge and strategy out of me. :)

I need more time to play CM 01/02, but I really want to know more about this move into Belgium.
How are the MLS teams doing?
Are they playing Belgian teams?
I've always heard that the US players would do well in Belgium.

The game where I moved teams to Belgium crapped out right before the 1st matches of my 2nd season were going to start.
I'm not 100% sure what it was, but it can't get past some CONCACAF event in early August, 2002. It's after the World Cup, so not WC Quals, that's for sure. I think it has something to do with changing the US to an EU nation or something. Maybe when the game goes to set up the 2006 WC Qualifiers for CONCACAF it freaks, as the US isn't there?
I know that in the summer/fall of 2001, even though San Jose was in Belgium 2nd, they played vs Boca in the Inter-Americas Challenge (or some similarly named event). I'll have to redo this and change a couple fewer things and see if it can work.
DC United did make it to the Belgium Cup final, winning by 1 goal at home, but losing by 2 on the road. Rochester also did very well (I had also put them in Belgium 2nd). I was excited for the 2nd season to start, as Chicago and San Jose had been promoted to the top of Belgium, and wanted to see if one of them could make it into Europe. As for the Indiana Blast, well, we did terrible, but then again, it's a terrible team. Probably a 2-3 season project to get them out of Third, at best.
I'll see if I can resort the teams and start over and get it to work properly. Maybe the answer IS changing nationalities on all 100 teams? God I hope not...

Thanks.
You can also click on a player and then set him as player one to compare. Then click on a second player at the same position and put him as player two. Then click compare two players and it will show whre their respective strengths are and over all who is the better player.

Just thought I would add my personal 2cents.
Best luck I ever had was with FC Utrecht of the Dutch League.... won the league 4 times , 1 UEFA Cup, Euro-Super Cup, and 2nd place in the World Club Cup....did all of that in about the first 6 seasons. Also I had some good luck with GBA of the Belgium 1st division...won the league 6 times, 7 League Cups, 2nd place Uefa Cup, and semi finalists in the Champions League twice...that was the longest spell I ever had at a club lasting 12 years before I just quit...also won the world cup and Euro Cup as the Irish coach during my ten year with GBA.
I have never used a big club team..for some reason I never can get into it... I love a good challenge so I usually go with smaller clubs and build them up.
My biggest stumbling block to date has been trying to win the World Club Cup with a MLS team. The ending of the season and the WCC are just too close to together so I always end up with dead tired and injured players...same go's for the Concacaf Cup and Cup Winners in North America...CM needs to space those cups a little better..if you have a solid team you end up playing in the MLS playoffs , and 2 regional Cups all in the same month and it just kills my squad everytime. My best run was with the Metros...had a sweet midfield of Effenberg, Redknapp, Petit and Gazza....Mathis and Collymore were my forwards..only lost 2 games in the MLS season..wicked stuff.

I have CM 99/00 an oldie I know. I took the US to the 2002 Quarters and lost to Argentina in the Extra Time Period. How happy was I, becuase if you realize in 99/00 we had lots of players rated really low. My line-up was: 3-1-3-3
Freidel
Kotschau, Pope, Petke
Parra
O'Brien, Baba, Stewart
Wolff, Washington, Kirovski
All my players got hurt right before the cup, Reyna, McBride, Moore, Ramos and Donovan, although somehow he came back and I used him as a sub. Kotschau made the all-tournament team. How funny is that! Too bad the little jerk scored an own goal in the 86th minute vs. argentina to send it to extra time. lol

I kept York City in the Premiership...JUST
Last match of the season I got a draw to relegate Spurs on goal difference. Had some good spells and won 5 in a row once, but then it all went south. I lost match after match, and though I looked safe heading into April, I barely escaped. Still I have about 11 million to spend over the summer to improve the squad. Incidentally, for all you Yanks out there, one of my most consistent performers for the last five seasons has been John Thorrington. He came cheap from some Scottish club and is a good buy.

I am assuming you mean Huddersfield Town? Which is in English D2! Thanks for the skinny I was curious about him and never bought but now I will give him a shot.

I have an old version of CM3 (98/99) which I have just started to play. Great fun, but I've still got a number of newbie questions. With training, I notice that the attributes are different colors (red, blue and yellow). I read somewhere that red means that the attribute had gone down and that green (where's that color!) means that it has gone up. What do the blue and yellow mean? Also, even though I am training skills at intensive, the numbers don't seem to change. How long until I am likely to see improvement? (and don't ask about my coaches, I haven't figured them out yet!). I am currently playing Swansea in Division 3 England (although, obviously, a Welsh team). We're about halfway through the season and I'm in the top 30/40%. Any advice is appreciated.

anyone know of an update out there for either the new 10 team MLS instead of the 01/02 defualt which still has Miami and TB, or know of a recent roster update out there?

Your going to have to wait for CM 4. Because the number of clubs in a league is hard coded and can't be edited.

You can always get the team swap patch and switch Tampa and Miami to the A League and then bring in 2 A League teams... I used Milwaukee and Rochester or Long Island.

Yes he does play for Huddersfield Town in English Div 2, but on my game Town had sold him to a Scottish Club. I bought him from the Scottish team. Well worth the 100K I think I paid.

I actually tried that, but I brought up Rochester and Seattle, but for whatever reason the program kept crashing after that. Oh well, not that big of a deal I guess.

Ummm... Someone help me... please?
I accidently saved my game right after I had purposly screwed around with it, not intending to save my game. Basically all I need to do is add three players back to my squad and all's good. So who knows of a saved game editor out there that allows me to do this? I got SaveGameEdiitor 3.7 (the Greame one) and it allows you to do anything and everything you want, except for editing a players club, or does it and I just can't figure it out?
Thanks.
