How the heck can I check the characteristics of my chairman?

I did it once, but I forgot how to do it again after that.

I am currently playing with Morecambe, originally from the English Conference, up to Division 3 in my third season (I went on a 67 game non-losing streak). I've been wanting to purchase scouts but they always turn down my offers when they are working for another team, even if they work for a crappy team, even if I make them an awesome offer. When I find unemployed personnel, the option to select "Scout" never appears! What gives?
Just offer a contract to the scouts that are interested in joining your club.

In CM 00/01 you could check the stats of a chairman. But that option has been removed in CM 01/02. Although I heard you may be able to see the stats if you click on the name of the chairman when he says something like "Berlusconi(Chairman) is pleased by your handling of the media ...". You can always check in a saved game editor if you really want to see the stats that badly.

Search for 'ARSE' at the SI site

That's true, but it only works on new games. And when I used it my players went crazy. Three players went AWOL and every other game one of my players did something to get a global ban.

I'm about to get started w/ CM. From what i hear, it's so addicting i'm not going to have a life....

From what I've read, says I only need 233 Pentium and 64MB (stuff i'm only fairly familiar w/), but what should I REALLY have if I want to get a good experience.

I didn't say I used an editor. Your right though. In fact I won't use any data updates anymore(They use the editor) because it causes constant crashes in my games. Just the CM 01/02 Patch v3.9.65 for me, no other updates are needed.

It depends on how 'deep' a simulation you want to run and the patience that you have.

With a 233 and 64Mb I'd suggest sticking to 3 leagues or less and minimum database setting.

To be honest though, the 'load' is something which varies depending upon individual peoples playing styles and patience .... I'd suggest using the recommendations I put in the manual for various computer types as a 'starting point' and then move down if you find them slower than you'd prefer.

Hope this helps,

What's up with this AI tactic crack?

Does it usually happen halfway through a season, because my team is SLIDING fast after ripping it up the first 10 games.

Tweek your tactics abit, you don't have to completely changes your formation but you do need to change up abit.

The AI does 'crack' tactics - but only if they have inherant flaws (in which case irl managers would suss them).

For instance if you use a very narrow tactic with no width then the better opposition managers will fairly quickly start to use 'wide' formations against you so that their wingers get a lot of space, within a season or so even the worst managers will have worked out a 'counter'.

If on the other hand you are playing a 'balanced' tactic (ie. 442, 532 etc.) the AI will NOT be able to 'crack' your tactic because it doesn't really have an inherant weakness, if you rely overtly on a particular player then the better managers might try and neutralise him with man-marking etc. but that would be about it.

Often people decide their tactic has been 'cracked' when there is a simpler reason for their sudden poor performance, usually a critical player being injured (or otherwise missing from the team, sold?).

The loss of influential players, such as captains or an experienced defender (who might organise your back 4) can be quite dramatic.

(If you follow the English Premiership, compare Man City's 3-0 defeat in their first match this season (without Schmeichel) where their defense was very disorganised at times to their 1-0 victory yesterday (with him) where their defense held up much better (not perfect by any means - but better) )

Hey guys. I'm still not able to purchase any scouts. It's not like I'm an awful team- Morecambe in English D3 (1st place in first season, set for D2)... Whenever I go to staff that is unemployed, I am only able to offer them a job as coach or assistant manager. All scouts working for another team will not leave theirs to work for mine, regardless of the offer I make them or the crappy team they play for... Anyone run into this problem?

Has anyone gave a player a 'leave of absence' and had him come back OK?

Just wondered, as Ive sent a few away (mainly younger players) and if they come back at all, it makes no difference.

Has anyone downloaded an update for 01/02 yet? If so, where from?
I tried the ones on thedugout.net and they didnt work.

Is it better to have a coach focus on the one specific area he is best at training? Or should they all multi-task?

Thanks,

Nick

When playing with a straight forward 4-4-2, do you think it is best to play with or without a playmaker?

Thanks.

I lit the crackpipe again and am working on keeping teams mid-table when they should really be relebated.

Oh, and I managed to work up 500,000 pounds of debt in the Scottish second division, while buying no players and selling more than 200,000 pounds worth.

But we stayed up. :D

it's a pain in the ass to try putting up players for transfer. NOBODY takes them! this isn't lik eother games where teams just snap em up.

Maybe i'm getting the basics wrong, should i lower the asking price first before transferring? or should i leave that alone?
