this pretty much sums it up...looks like we're all screwed.

From www.fifaworldcup.com
The second sales period for 2006 FIFA World Cup™ match tickets begins on 2 May 2005 at 12 o'clock midday CEST (Central European Summer Time).
Tickets will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis in this sales period, i.e. applications will be processed in the order they are received. Subject to availability, TST (Team Specific Ticket) series may be ordered by applicants wishing to follow a specific team as they progress through the tournament. Due to high levels of demand in the first sales period, individual tickets and TST series will not be available at the start of the new period for the following nations: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the USA.

It says that they will not be available at "the start" of the new period.

It does not say "for good".

Not that I even begin to understand what it does mean!?!?

It looks like anyone wanting tickets for the 13 sold out teams will have to wait until the draw. TST tickets may become available or we'll just have to buy a game at a time in phase 3.

OR, you could pick another team, and hope they qualify. :o

If you were applying for US TST tickets, now you do not have to.

They will/may be released at a later date.

The biggest part that sucks is that if you got individual tickets in the first phase, then you cannot buy TST tickets in the 2nd phase or ever it seems.  :(

I don't see how this can suck more than not having any tickets of your own at this point.

I understood that we could not order both TST and individual matches in the 1st phase.I can't find where it says we cannot order TST in a different(2nd) phase if we were lucky enough to get tickets in the 1st phase.Does the limit apply to a particular phase or all the phases? Guess I'll find the answer when I apply for TST on Sunday and get a rejection from the OC.

Up to four TST series may be ordered per household. However, applicants allocated individual tickets in the first sales period are not permitted to apply for TST series, as the terms and conditions only permit applications for one form of ticket.

The third sales period begins in December 2005 when up to 300,000 individual tickets will be released for sale.
No 6 a.m. wakeup for me.
Duh!
Please ignore my earlier lame post.

Tickets are going for big money on www.ebay.de

Highest I saw was a TST7 for England, with the bidding up to 2,400 euro. I think somebody would have to be really desperate to pay that sort of price. Officially anyone buying a ticket from a tout won't get in, but experience says that from the group stages onwards, the majorty of the fans there have bought tickets on the black market.

Prior to WC 2002 (and I am sure WCs before that), the official FIFA line was that they would check ID against the name on the match ticket . . . it did not happen at any of the game that I went to . . . do you know what kind of operational nightmare you would have trying to match ID, name and face to a match ticket???? 40,000 to 70,000 people . . . many with a few beers in their belly, and ready to cheer for their team . . . and all of them being carded . . . impossible.

FIFA has to make such claims or they would appear as if they are allowing buying and the subsequent reselling of match tickets . . .

It was writen on ticket site before first sales period started the you would not be able to get tickets for individual matches as well as order TST's. So why now do you say it sucks?

what really sucks is the OC giving 75% or tickets to Germans
what really sucks is the WC in German will not be a world festival
what really sucks is the OC allocating people 2 tickets to only 1 match
what really sucks is the OC

germany had the most request for tickets.

80% of the ticket requests were from Germany. Germans has no more chance of being successful in the draw than anybody else.

what really sucks is the WC in German will not be a world festival

I'm not really sure what you mean by "the WC in German". I am certain all signs etc around the stadiums will be in multiple languages, as will stadium announcements.

what really sucks is the OC allocating people 2 tickets to only 1 match

because not everyone goes on their own. A lot of people go with friends etc and it makes it a joint application, so they can get two seats together, rather than be possibly on opposite sides of the stadium.

Can someone explain the rules regarding the TST-7 tix.

If your team advances to the final, obviously not very complicated...but

if your team does not get out of 1st round, your tix transfers to
the group winner, right?

then if that group winner is knocked out at rd. of 16 then your tix
transfers again to the team that knocked out your group winner???

what if THAT team gets knocked out in the QF, transfer again?
(sounds too good to be true), again and again until the final???

What I am confused about is how many times your tix can be
automatically transferred???

THANKS

I think you get a refund on the unused part of your ticket. I'm sure it doesn't transfer to another team.

A purchaser of a TST 4-7 ticket follows their team until that team is eliminated from the tournament. When their chosen team has been eliminated from the competition the customer will continue through the tournament following the team that has eliminated their chosen team from the tournament. If your desired team is eliminated in one of the final matches, with the TST being valid for subsequent matches, the ticket will be transferred to the winner of the respective final match. A corresponding rule applies in the case of that team being eliminated in turn.

So, if you get knocked out of the group stage you will always follow the team that beat yours until they get beaten. This cycle will continue for however many games you specified. ie TST5, 6, 7. In other words, you are guaranteed to see the number of matches your ticket is valid for. If you get a TST7 you will have a ticket for 7 games regardless of if your team makes it or not.
Hope this helps....

Anyone actually applying tomorrow even though those 13 teams are sold out?

Then will that mean if you are a holder of TST-7 tix you are guaranteed
to see the Final? b/c your tix will always transfer to the team
that wins the knock-out phase matches?

Just for e.g.

your team does not get out of group stage, so you become
holder of let's say Germany, so you are now holder of
Germany tix rest of the way until they get knocked out.
but they get knocked out by say Holland so become
holder of Holland tix, who in turn get knocked out by Brazil (in QF), who
in turn gets knocked out by.. on and on

will that really work mathematically?

(what about the fact that the TST for those countries are
sold out already)

Thanks for the reply.

OC will sell only a limited number of total TST7, less than the capacity of the final match, so it works mathematically.

that's amazing, and kind of bizarre. The last thing I'd want to do if England got knocked out would be to go and sit with that teams fans for the next match. I suppose it does make it kind of handy for selling it on. You could probably make your money back.

Hmm, now are there any badly supported teams who look likely to qualify?
