Well the answer was there for everyone to see. Milan was dominated like Lyon never was in both legs still they managed to win 2-0.

I should have said "what's the difference between French and Italian/spanish/english football", well they score when it matters.

Yesterday i really was kinda feeling down cause i realised that we'll never be big in Europe.
It's only football i know, but i whish we could do what the italians do.

I watched the game yesterday in anticipation that PSV would pull off a upset. As a Munich fan, I am now cheering on the underdog of the competition. As a Chicago Fire fan, I also have a vested interest in this team as well... ;)

Anyways, what I saw was a PSV team that was youthful and energetic, created several quality chances, but did not have the finishing touch. Pit that against a very mature and experienced AC Milan team that typically puts their goals in at the end of a half. The strikers for AC Milan were men. The strikers for PSV just seemed like boys. The other difference was the ability of Milan to pressure the PSV backs at the right moments. I saw defenders being pressured the second they turned to face their own goal... or ... 2-3 Milan players squeezing in on defenders or midfielders when facing their own goal. This created opportunities for AC because invariably, the PSV player being pressured would simply lose possession or make an errant pass.

Believe me, I was rooting on PSV and swearing at the screen everytime Park or Farfan had an opportunity inside the 18 and came up short (Park is a hell of a player), but to me Shevchenko (sp?) and Tomasson were just too strong on the ball and buried their opportunities. Park seemed to be on the ground as much as he was in and around the 18.

Milan is just a good side. Period. PSV is a team that sticks to its game plan, but if the goals aren't coming, will ultimately lose out.

I dont think Lyon would have been able to score enough goals against Milan to beat them. Milan is one of the 3 best teams in the entire world. Next year Lyon will have a better chance. They will get that goal scorer they need that they didnt have this year. To Ballon d'or who said French teams will never be big in Europe he must have forgotton about last year when we had 2 teams in European finals who could have both won if not for Barthez's blunder and Mourinho outcoaching Dechamps. Also this year of course Lyon was very unlucky with PSV they lose in penalties. Its all about luck.

I don't know, I expect big things coming from French football in the coming years. I'm thinking that recent successes plus additional money will only bolster French progress. Wasn't there one of the largest TV deals with Canal recently, something along those lines. Money like that will go a long way so French clubs can keep good players and continue to find new ones.

A Lyon v. Milan match in my opinion would have been a lot more interesting. I'm not sure how it would have turned out, but we put up a good fight. There is something to be said for having a world class striker like Shevchenko and a solid team as well.
