MS Word and MS Works

Is there a way that one can open a Works file in Word? I think it works the other way around, but I can't seem to get Works files to work (no pun intended lol) in Word.

Not just your basic Word set-up, you can download a file off the internet someplace that installs to Word so you can open up a Works document. Just do a Google search.
