If FIFA 2006 and WE 9 appear on next gen consoles do you think the '06 versions for the previous generation will suffer because developers will focus on the new hardware?

Um.... probably.
The development teams likely don't get real serious about the next gen version until they ship the current version. So the PS2 and XBox versions could be short on new features and such.
Then they'll probably be strained for time on the next gen versions, as they try desperately to get them out by their launch dates. So the next gen versions will be spectaular in scope, and buggy as all hell.
It'll be the next year's versions on the next gen consoles that will kick ass.
