Is it just me, or is there anyone else out there who is fed up with the interrupting ticker at the bottom of the screen during English Premier League Highlights?

Today, this same ticker with scores from various leagues was displayed not once but FOUR TIMES in less than an hour.

Now, let's understand this. Here is a show produced by SKY Sports in the UK being relayed back to us through FSC on the same day. We are all anxious to watch the action packed fast paced show. Every play leads to a shot or goal attempt or incident...hey, it is a HIGHLIGHT show. But some idiot in a control room in Los Angeles, is so bored with life, that they need to run the same ticker throughout this short show for a full 4 times distracting the VIEWERS from watching the action, as the information on the ticker streams on during GOAL action. Like there are people just switching on to FSC to watch EPL highlights who are more concerned about scores from Mexico than watching the goals from the EPL?

I do not know why networks like FSC who profess to market to soccer fans do not have soccer-minded folks working on the channel who understand that good marketing means good product first.

FSC is so full of amateurs that if it were not for the production of SKY Sports such as EPL Highlights, EPL live and tape delay matches, FA Cup matches, England matches, EPL Preview, Fanzone, SKY Sports News and others, that FSC would not even exist. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful FSC exists and we can watch so much good soccer on one channel which was not possible 15 years ago. But they have too many idiots like Nick Webster, Sean Wheelock, John Harkes, both the Fox Soccer USA hosts, certain producers, music programmers, and editors working for the channel. The music is horrible, and nothing compared to SKY's production value. The on screen graphics are far too large for the screen when clear view game action is far more important. The same old commercials run too long during show segments which become nauseating (I can only go to the bathroom so many times to avoid this).

A prime example of the idiocy of the FSC amateurism is the ticker schedule information. 90% of those that watch FSC regularly must be at home and pay a subscription as part of a package with digital cable or satellite TV. Therefore, it makes sense that we all have digital remore controls where we can access a schedule menu of every channel at a touch of a button. So if I want to know what's coming on this week on FSC , I just look it up and make a note to watch it. But forever and a day, during game action, some bastard in a control room wants to run endless tickers with what is coming on next or later that week. HELLO!!! I am trying to watch the action that is on now, not tommorrow. Who cares about rugby on Tuesday when I am watching Liverpool vs Arsenal on Sunday?

I know some may not be affected by these on screen gizmos because they do not know better, but I am an original viewer, who also grew up with BBC production values and then SKY Sports TV. I watched FSC (Fox Sports World) in it's first year in the late 90s. Back then all matches were shown with NO tickers, no commercial banners, no logos, just clear fullscreen action. You could watch pre-game and post-game analysis direct from the SKY feed and no comments and studio interruptions from FSC hosts. It was heaven. Now all we hear is pathetic build up from FSC hosts right up to the kick off whistle and again right on the final whistle, as if the SKY folks do not exist. Who are they kidding at FSC?

I am a soccer person that believes soccer has had horrible coverage over the years in this country and now with FSC's rights to SKY Sports, we have world class soccer original programming. But do we need our own channel's people to destroy it with stupid graphic and audio interruptions?

If you are going to do it, then do it RIGHT. Do not become another ESPN, or other dumb sports channel. Be a soccer channel that has the best production value and coverage ever.

Start by getting the ticker OFF THE AIR.

I hear you "Borracho" but that is the direction FSC is heading. Whatever ESPN introduce, FSC is going to try to mimic because they are brainless in their decision making. SKY Sports is their only saviour for quality shows.

By 2006, we are going to be watching screens whereby you need a 60 inch TV just to see the action clearly, or even the ball.

It is up to the soccer viewers not to sit at home and be apathetic and just say, "well, I can deal with it as long as you show the game." That attitude is why 90% of all soccer fields are uncared for in 2005 or ripped to shreads for baseball diamonds. The apathetic soccer community stood by and let it all happen and thought, well as long as we have some space to play, it's OK.

Stop this attitude and demand better. You deserve it.
Write to FSC and let them know the ticker sucks and give us full screen coverage and no more audio interruptions from FSC hosts:

I just got off the phone with John Harks where he used have a show with FSC and he will speak to FSC about the problem with crazy ticker. He said he will take care of the ticker as soon as he gets his job back. :o
