What up fellas.
This thread is intended to see how many Peruano posters still like to go to the park and play a little toque.
Feel free to tell your stories.
I'll go. Today I am mad and sad. Why, my make shift team played a group of Argentinos and we got our a$$es wupped. To make matters worse I was wearing my NT jersey. We lost 8-2. My team was made up of two greek guys, two french, 3 persians, an irishmen and a perucho. Their team was all Argentinos except one Uruguayo.
It was frustrating because I know if I was playing with my normal patas we would of played some nice touching, instead los albiceleste were doing some nice dancing with the ball.
I got mad and slide tackled one who was talking sh!t. He got all huffy and puffy and I just stared at him like "what are you gonna do about it" He got me back about a half hour later. It was war. I really hated losing to that team.
But what can I say, even at the park those Argies are damn good.
I did manage to score a goal so I got to kiss the FPF patch. That did make me feel good.

It must be pretty sweet playing against argies every weekend...as for me I play in my high school team and during the off season I go to the park to stay in shape but the only players there are mexicans. the good thing about playing in the park is that most of the time we play 5 v 5 so its like street soccer and I get to score alot of goals and make huachas too.
Another memory that I have is that when I was like 15 I went to Thousand Oaks to vist my uncle and we played 8 v 8, my team was like 2 peruvians,2 brazilans,1 portuguese,1 mexican,1 argie, and some Israeli guy, against a team made out of argies and it was a prety close game but it was one of the most fun games I've ever played.

THis Argie team is the best I play against. I mean every play you have to give 110% or you will get burned.
One of their players (i sh!t u not) was a carbon copy of Juan P. Sorin and the other guy looked just like Roberto Baggio from Italy. It's so intimidating. It definetly made me play better. I was marking like a muthaf-er

I play any position on the defensive back line. I usually play left back. I like to go up on attacks. If sh!t is really bad and the other team is just controlling the ball like crazy, I switch with the center defensive midfield and try and win some balls.

I'm an old man so I only have time to play once in a while.
Here's something that'll make everyone here a lil proud: the top goal scorer for all Houston area high schools this year was a Peruvian from Trujillo. I've seen him play indoor once and he's pretty good but not a complete stud like one would imagine. But whatever, he gets the job done, plus he's only a junior so he should continue to improve next year.
On another note, anyone here gone back to Peru and gotten completely owned playing on concrete? I'm so used to playing in grass that when I've gone back, the ball moves too fast and I suck terribly. I tell people that I'm not used to playing on concrete but I don't think they believe me

I play every Tuesday and Thursday, year round. The same group that plays indoor, plays outdoor on the same freaking days! It makes the routine easier.
But, since outdoor is free, while indoor is usually about $4 a session, we have been getting many more players to come out. Last Tuesday we had like 15 a side! Luckily, I brought my little goals, and we started a smaller game on the side.
I have retired from organized soccer for two main reasons.
One, I have been eating too freaking much with not enough sex...eeerrr..exercise. :D Once you pass 30, you will need to work much harder to keep in shape, unless you already have good habbits. I did stop smoking last week, and in reality, I have had little desire to smoke. When I wake up in the morning,
I no longer need to cough up a lung to get the day going. I feel so much better. I wonder if I will want/allow myself to smoke when I am in party mode. I know I will want to smoke when I am drinking. Luckily, I usually only drink once or twice a month.
The other reason I have retired is because I work each and every weekend. The leagues play on the weekends. When I did play, we were that team with all the international rejects. We were always pretty good considering all the styles mixed together. My brother always formed the teams. I had the most fun playing co-ed. For real.
But it is still great to get out at least twice a week. Last week, my wife, mother-in-law, my moms, my cousins and extended family all decided to come watch and enjoy the park. I was playing with my brother, three cousins and two of my sisters. Man, having family is cool sometimes...most times.
I also swim in the summer because I have a pool in the backyard. I also enjoy going to the park and playing some basketball. Basketball is actually my favorite sport to play. When I went to Peru when I had just turned 18, you'd think I was Michael Jordan down there. It was hard to find a game, but when I did, I was always the best player. :D

Over here in LA I have been lucky to find two games one on Saturday the other on Sunday that is entirely with peruanos. One is in Pasadena and the other in Duarte (citys in los angeles).
They play so sweet. Everything is con calma, the ball moves so fluid.
I want to play the argies with an all peruvian team.
Side note: in the seventies there was an LA club team called "Defensor Peruano" they won the city title and even made the newspapers back in Peru.
When i did my undergrad in Santa Barbara, there was alot of Brazillians. So we played beach soccer. Man do I move slow on sand. Like Soto. :D

hey if the kid is good and still young, maybe he can try with the youth teams from here... if he plans to live/stay in the US...he ought to do his best if he wants to become a pro...

I play with a group on Wednesdays and Saturdays (haven't played the past month because of work)
We play among us ... normally between 12 and 20 show up. But a couple times when we were roughly 12, some kids in their early 20's played against us. Damn ... they are in superb shape (they play twice a week too) ... they were mostly Europeans studying at an English Language institute.
These guys beat us both times ... by only one goal ... but I think I've never been as sore as when we played against them. Would have to put twice the effort we normally put, so they wouldn't run over us.
Now ... having said that, I gotta admit I'm the "caudillo" of my teams. I like to talk a lot ... and put some "respect" on the field. Ah and also score pretty often. ;)

Most of the guys who play work for MTV Latino America ... Argentinians, Peruvians, Ecuatorians, Brazilians, Colombians etc. Pretty even between Peruvians (like 5) and Argentinians.

From what I've seen in the past, the top maybe 10 players in the city get scholarships to Division I schools so he has a good shot.
He's going to be on my team in a 6 on 6 tournament among Peruvians this Sunday so I'll let y'all know how he did.

Is he a future #10? I say we take this guy back to Peru let him lead us to WC2010.

Am i the only perucho here that doesnt play in mad pickup games ?
I tried my luck at an early age, all the way up till middle school, where video games took the better of me and i gave up my craft. Whilst in mexico, we played futbol rapido on a concrete court, which was incredibly new to me, and i estimate that i messed up on more key plays than mendoza ever did(or ever will), and drew endless insults :D
Once back here, i started to train with some team,in order to try out for a travel team in miami, but i dived straight into 20 lap runs from my comfortable chair in front of the computer, which of course treated my hamstrings and ligaments like hell. t was also digging into my time voraciously. After 3 practices, i was unable to find form, and the coach didnt really want me to keep going.
Although the level of American sawker has risen, i still mantain that anyone playing in the U.S their whole lives would get their sh!t ruined in mexico. My right back, and central defense skills are various and i can break plays like a madman.

I play soccer pretty much everyday....I have absolutely no life, no job, and no girlfreind. All me and my freinds do after school is go home, eat, get changed and walk to the park to play.
We mostly play between ourselves and there are about 10 of us(Peruvians, Colombians, and a couple of Mexicans). We sometimes play against other people like Mexicanos, and we usually win. They play rough, and around here (Clifton, NJ) Peruanos and Mejicanos don't really get along, so every game means something.
Anyone ever been around Clifton, NJ?? There are a large number of Peruvians here, and Patterson, and Passaic. :D
