Friday, April 22nd- Metrostars vs. Chicago Fire/ESC BRING A FRIEND DAY
Hot on the heels of a 2-2 comeback tie last week, the Metrostars host the Chicago Fire in the rare Friday night game, with kickoff at 8pm.
Let's face it, we hate the Fire. We've beat them just once in our last 9 games. They won the Open Cup, in our house. They knocked us out of the playoffs in 2000.
If another cow started a second fire and burned the city down, we'd mail 'em marshmallows. It is more than time for us to absolutely kick the crap out of them.
We are asking everyone to show up, wear a jersey if you got one (or something Metro), and help us go nuts for 90 minutes screaming for the team.
We will have drums. We will have banners. What we need, is you.
We had a large and loud section for the KC game last week, and we were able to turn the second half into a pretty fun party. There is no reason why we can't do that again this week. The weather is going to be perfect, mid 60s and no rain. And, if you are looking for omens, Sergio Galvan Rey scored 2 goals in 871 minutes last year. He scored 2 goals in 17 minutes last week. At this rate, he could put in 11 against the Fire. Okay, maybe only 10, but still, a hot Galvan Rey with Guevara and Djorkaeff passing him the ball could turn our season into something special.
Let's get out there and let our players know we are loud, proud and firmly behind them. It's not about politics, it's about support. There are 11 guys on the field that need our help. Let's stand firm and give it to them.
We will start tailgating at 5:30pm, in lot 16A of Giants Stadium. We hope to see you there.

ESC Bring a Friend Day
As mentioned, the Metrostars Front Office is giving us a free ticket for every member who signed up for the ESC by April 3rd, 2005.
The idea behind this promotion is to help us grow the club by allowing you to bring a friend to a game for free, and perhaps you can turn them into an ESC member as well. After 90 minutes in a rocking section 101, they'll be ESC for life.
How do I get my free ticket? To redeem your free ticket, show up in lot 16A, with your friend. A Metrostars Front Office Employee will be there from 6:30 on. You will fill out a quick form with your name and 2005 ESC card number. Your friend will fill out the bottom half of the form with their name. You will get a free ticket. Pretty simple.
In case it was unclear the first time, you and your friend must be present to pick up your ticket. Please don't get in line to redeem your ticket without your friend with you, as this will slow down the line.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ANY MEMBERSHIP ISSUES, IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR CARD WITH YOU, IF YOU CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN YOU SIGNED UP, ETC, SEE THE ESC FIRST, BEFORE TRYING TO REDEEM YOUR FREE TICKET. The front office employee will have a list of members signed up by April 3rd, but will not be there to resolve any membership issues or answer any questions related to the ESC. We ask that you direct them to the ESC only, not the MFO, as they cannot help you with ESC matters. If you aren't on a list, if you don't know how to redeem your ticket, if you have questions about mailing it in, see the ESC.
Also, if you can't make it to the April 22nd game, please send us an e-mail. You can redeem your free ticket for future games via mail, for either the May 7th or May 21st games. We will e-mail you a form that you can mail in. Note: You can only redeem one ticket per member regardless of which game you choose to use it for. If you mail a ticket redemption form in, you need to have it mailed to the MFO a week or more in advance so that there is ample time to return a ticket to you.
NICK BEER DAY
As another incentive to get out to the park on Friday, the MFO will stop by the lot around 6:30, with FREE BEER for the ESC.
That's right, show up and drink on the front office tab. Could you possibly need another reason to come to the game?
GM Nick Sackiewicz is scheduled to attend and hang around the tailgate for a few (there is a "Break Into Sports" management meeting prior to the game, so he likely will only get to stay for 30 mins or so). When he is a guest in our lot, we ask that you treat him with respect. If you want to ask a tough question, want to mention a specific problem, etc, please feel free to do so- he won't duck it. But he is coming down, with beer, to hang with us. Making a fool of yourself doesn't hurt him, it only hurts the club.
May 21st Ticket Contest
As mentioned, we are part of a league wide promotion for all supporters clubs. For the May 21st game, we are selling tickets for $ 13, with $ 3 going to the club. This is an excellent chance to get some friends to the game, raise some money for the club and pack the section. The Metro Front Office have joined in, and will give whichever Metro club (ESC or Metronation) an additional prize for whichever club sells the most tickets.
It would be a shame to miss out on a chance to raise some easy money for the club. Tickets for the May 21st game are on sale at any ESC tailgate or away match viewing, and if you want to paypal us money for tickets we can mail them to you. Whatever prizes the ESC wins will go to the member that sells/buys/etc the most tickets, so if you can get 20 friends out there for the game, by all means, we need the help.
