I've never seen him play with the French NT. I think he is one of the best French defenders around. Has he ever played with the NT?

He's amazing and no I don't believe he has. Maybe at youth levels but not senior.
He's just one of the many players France always OVERlooks... for no reason.
Him and Malbranque and Olivier Bernard and Frank Quedrue can be in BEST forms and be best players of their top clubs at times but France will just overlook them.

Usually, NT managers don't want too much insertions in a group they try to define.

Well, we have to admit that there's lots of players before them : Abidal, Evra, Malouda, Dhorasoo, Gallas, Boumsong, Givet ... just for CB, LB and LM.

What about Johan Micoud? You can't tell me that there is no place for him in this team?

Micoud played 17 games (1 goal) for NT already.

Unfortunately for him, he was in competition with Zidane, and now, with Giuly or Dhoraso. He is 32 now, so I'm afraid you can't call him the future of the team.
And I agree about Ismael: he could be our solution in defence (and I don't say this because he is Alsatian).
France NT is overlooking A LOT of good players. Since the victory in 1998, for commercial reasons, it seeks star players rather than good players.

Laurent Robert should have a more active role in this team as well. At 32 I don't think Micoud is done. The primary concern now has to be qualifying for the WC.
