Hello fellow England National team fans. Does anyone plan on going to Germany in 2006? Me and a few friends in Texas are planning on flying up during the 1st week. Hoping to see an England early game. Can you get tickets before the game at the stadium and are they pretty expensive in the early rounds? We are planning to watch a couple of games and go to Amsterdam and tour the town. If anyone has any suggestions on saving money please feel free to write me and let me know any tips for travel.

If I'm not mistaken the tickets are drawed and you need to register to be in the draw. So getting tickets will be extremely difficult considering there is only limited quantity of tickets and millions of people registering for them.

You missed the first drawing for ticket. Check out: Fifa 2006 (http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/index.html) and/or check one of numerous threads in the FIFA and Tournaments forum.

Would one be able to buy, say a scalped ticket at the venue?

From what I understand you have to buy tickets that come with your name on them. And you have to show ID to enter the match along with your ticket. This is to prevent scalping, though I think hooliganism has something to do with it too. The first draw ended on 31 March. Also you have to buy tickets for all three qualifiers, or for a venue w/o knowing who is playing in that game. This is why my wife and I didn't throw into the hat for tickets. We couldn't spend two weeks in Germany for financial reasons. Best of luck.

I went to England-Croatia in Lisbon. Different name on the ticket. I didn't buy the ticket. Got it from a friend in Portsmouth who I met in Portugal. So I don't think that'll be too necessary (to get them through FIFA).
