Borussia Dortmund have completed the permanent signing of Eby Smolarek from Feyenoord.

The 24-year-old Pole moved to Dortmund on loan in December and has won many admirers in the Bundesliga in the last four months.

Despite being mired in financial trouble, Borussia made it clear they wanted to keep the Pole and a deal was struck with Feyenoord over the weekend.
Smolarek has penned a four-year contract and is delighted to be staying in Germany.

"I am delighted with this transfer," he told Feyenoord's website. "I am very happy here in Dortmund.

"I never expected I would get used to life in another country so quickly. The players have accepted me in their social life.

"At Feyenoord, there was no future for me. The coach had chosen someone else - I accepted that.

"Of course it's difficult, because I grew up at Varkenoord (the accommodation of the Feyenoord youth academy). But I didn't want to stop my own development. This is the best solution."

GREAT! Word is that he costs 750.000 Euro only. :-)

Don't know how BVB have lowered Feyenoord's demands. Maybe there are some extra payments regarding our futute success (a more than common transfer strategy nowadays).

I think we have a management team who either knows how to work the transfer market or are learning quickly.

That, or Feyenoord just wanted to get rid of Smolarek.......

I really don't know. On the one hand Gullit didn't wanted him anymore and told it Smolarek, on the other hand Feryenoord knew we desperately wanted Ebi to stay. Whatever......I am happy that we have done the deal. He is no Amoroso but a polite, true-hearted, always fighting guy.

I agree! But if you've had any time to check the list, you'll see that I still wouldn't mind having Amoroso back. I believe Amoroso's main problem in Dortmund was SAMMER!!

I think Smolarek attacking from midfield with Amoroso and Koller up front would be unstoppable.

I also know it's not very realistic to dream about either.

But isn't that why they call it "dreaming"?? LOL!! :-) :-)

Thanks! I just hope Smolarek continues to play the way he has for us this season. I think it also gives us flexibility in whatever plans there might be for Rosicky.......
