I haven't seen much of Dos Santos, but he is gaining much praise in Spain and im sure the youth teams in Spain are better than MLS teams, where Adu isn't living up to his $1million Nike contract.

I saw Adu play for the first time in both recent games against Pumas. I really was dissapointed, given all the high praise this kid gets from most american fans.

This thread is indeed lame.. gets my vote for recycle bin material.
Note to Yanks: dont get baited by this lame comparison..
for anyone that doesnt know, Giovanny Dos Santos is a Mexican/Brazilian kid that plays in Barcelona's youth team. He will soon be called to represent Mexicos U-17 i dont understand why he is being compared to Adu when Giovanny isnt even regarded as highly in Mexico.

Do you have any links to back this up?!?!?!?!?!
You haven't seen much of Dos Santos, you probably haven't even seen a picture of Dos Santos.
A Google search on Dos Santos leads to nothing....................

I wouldn't be surprised if Freddy's ego threw him off his game at some point. He was on MTV's fake ID club a couple weeks ago cocky as hell, and he's only 15, and we all think landon's bad, Freddy's gonna be throwing some italian national team prima donna fit by the time he's 20 because he doesn't like the way the uniforms are made. The kid does have potential though.

adu will be fine. He needs time to develope just like every teenager (specially when your 15 freaken yrs old) thats got the BIG TIME POTENTIAL logo on them. As for Dos Santos, plzzzz he falls into the dime for a dozen category. Theirs like 100 of them in Europe currently in Academys.

I could really care less if they are better than Adu.... I find it funny alot of you think we are depending on Adu to put the US over the top. Adu also falls into the dime for a dozen category. He put down a chance to go to ManU Academy which would of made no difference to what he is doing now. I will let you know my true fellings about Adu when he is 19-20. For now he is a child trying to play a mans game. Hes not the first kid thats been offered incentives, contracts or gift for having potential at such a young age.
As for Dos Santos NOBODY knows how good he is. Just like every kid playing in academys in EU. I find it kinda sad this kid is getting hyped already even though I only seen clips from him.
btw is this guy Brazilian?? cause he looked like Ronaldhino jr in some highlights.

You lost all credibility here...spanish youth teams better than MLS??? MLS is not SPL, but the youth side??? Come on man, be real...

We'll see what Freddy does at the U-20 championships this summer. He was incredible for the U-17s (second best player in the tournament after Cesc and we know how he turned out.) I think that this tournament will give a pretty good indication of how far he's come. On one level Freddy still has basic growing to do, that's one thing that's keeping him back. He is 15, being guarded by defenders twice his age. But frankly, he's nice. He's one of DC's better players right now despite not starting.

Adu has great talent, as seen in tonights game against The Crew. 1 goal, 3 assists. As long as Pete Nowak gives the kid playing time, like he did tonight, running the full 90.
Freddy still has a lot of maturity to develop but all in all he is an extremely well balanced player. But, I do have to agree that he needs to keep his ego in check.

exactly... but by 18-20 I hope he is the real deal. For now I hope he keeps getting some PT and one day may he develop into something great. But NO WAY am I or should anyone count on him to some day be the sole purpose the US becomes a great soccer team.

HMM.. well adu is good.. in my school I have seen people just like him..maybe better. He is all publicity in US. I think eddie johnson is WAYYYY better than him. Adu is very cocky and confident. You saw how pumas destroyed completely the dc united?

better at math or something maybe, but not soccer, come on man....
he is also a lot older
i would rather have a cocky player that ********s up every once in a while, with the confidence to take the shots when he needs to, than the polar opposite
Adu is not part of the DC defense.
