I can safely say they are much better than our American counterparts who fail miserablely to even pronouce such easy names like Nantes and Lille correctly.
I remember the early days of eurogoals :
Now it's Kahain (Caen) against Lé Havrrré (Le Havre).
Prunihrrrrrrrrr (Prunier) comes to the EPL ...
Now, I wish French commentators did the same improvements (Vojeule for Vögel...).

Wow!

Yeah of course, but next to Americans, its not exactly a joke. Given the exponent of European coverage on our screens for years and those regular booze trips to Calais - I can safely say they are much better than our American counterparts who fail miserablely to even pronouce such easy names like Nantes and Lille correctly.
Even a basic attempt with cause for silent endings an nasal vowels will do.
Jeez, American announcers are horrible at pronouncing the French names. It makes my ears bleed.
Mah-say = Marseille
Pearee = Paris
Ligue Eh = Ligue Un
Mets = Metz
Good thing they can at least say Toulouse properly. Though they are probably thinking "to lose" when they say it. :mad:

Yeah, I know it was bad, but it wasn't awful. At least they attempted to, with some basic knowledge of French.
I've just watched the game in entirity, and it did seem very odd when the teams came out to silence. Very sad.
Shame we beat them, given the events in the past week for the club.
We got lucky, very lucky. I think Lyon had about 4 or 5 absolute sitters - Alonzo did make the most of some of the shots he had to save - but he saved him them regardless.
Solid win, if not massively fortunate - but heck - I can't count the amount of times we've been conned out of wins this year.
