Just when people were starting to agree on 1860 reaching the 1. BL.,here come Frankfurt to take third spot! And they are on great form 8 goals scored and none against in their last two matches. How could 1860 slip up against saarbrucken is anyone's guess. And if Aachen win on Monday, they are only two points away...this is the making for a seasons end just as dramatic as last year.

I am still rooting for Fürth, but it does not look good at the moment :-/

Big game tonight. MSV could go 9 points clear of 4th place with a win over Aachen, but Alemannia will be well up for it since they could still achieve promotion. But MSV had a great game last week and after Koeln's defeat, they will have high confidence. I'll go for 2-0 Duisburg tonight.

What happened to 1860 yesterday? That team kills me. Yet, I root for them. I can't help myself.

I got to like 1860 from the old friendship 1860 and Dortmund had. And since I lived three and a half hours closer to Munich than I did to Dortmund, it was easier to catch 1860 matches at the Olympiastadion on the weekends I didn't go to Dortmund, Nuernberg or Kaiserslautern.

I'm cheering hard for 1860 to make it back.

FROM FSC:

A soccer player for a German second division club has tested positive for the banned substance Fenoterol, the country's soccer authorities said Wednesday.

The Rot-Weiss Erfurt player, whose name was not released, tested positive after his club's 2-0 win over Unterhaching on April 6.

Fenoterol, which is used in asthma medicines, is listed as a banned substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The player and club have 48 hours to request the results of the B-sample.

Unterhaching has officially protested the match's outcome.

I just read that he showed his little son how to use his asthma spray and that's why he was tested positive. Now that's a creative explanation :D

MSV Duisburg sealed their promotion to the 1. Bundesliga next season with a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt tonight.

As you will see in the standings below, the last 1. Bundesliga promotion spot will be battled for between Eintracht Frankfurt (55 pts), 1860 Munich (54 pts), Greuther Fuerth (53 pts) and to a lesser extent, Alemannia Aachen (51 pts).

The contenders have the following matches left to play.

Eintracht Frankfurt: @Energie Cottbus, SV Wacker Burghausen

1860 Munich: @Greuther Fuerth, LR Ahlen

Greuther Fuerth: 1860, @Alemannia Aachen

Alemannia Aachen: @SV Wacker Burghausen, Greuther Fuerth

I believe anyone thinking logically would heavily favor Eintracht Frankfurt.

I guess I'm not thinking logically. More like a fan. I have a sneaky feeling Frankfurt will draw or lose in Cottbus. I think if 1860 can beat both Fuerth and Ahlen, promotion is theirs.

That's my thinking as a fan, I don't think any of the teams can be discounted.

Ahlen may be fighting for their lives on that final Sunday, so it's going to be a WILD RIDE!!!

The key for 1860 is a win away at Fürth. If they somehow can come out with 3 points on Sunday, they have a really good chance. They'll be pumped up vs. Ahlen for their final game in Gründwalder Stadion, especially if promotion is possible.

Frankfurt has to be a bit shaken by their loss to Duisburg, especially with the penalty miss. A win and a draw by them for the next 2 weeks is possible.

Although, after last season's crazy finish, anything is possible :)
