I have watched the MLS and the standard is just not as good as the English Premier League. I support an average team in England and they compare well to the standard of the MLS. Are there any pubs in Western Massachusetts where i can watch some quality Premiership football?

I've done that but it's nice to have the atmosphere of watching a match in the pub.

You probably could have chosen a better forum to post this in :)
Or perhaps been a bit more diplomatic, and said "I've enjoyed the MLS to a degree...but really miss the Premiership. Where might I watch a match with a few other beer swilling ex-pats??"

Depends where you live Mass. You have two options, both requiring drives. 1st: drive to Stamford, Conn and watch a gane @ Fado's/Tigrin or 2nd take a drive into Quincy and check out Bad Abotts. 2nd always being the 1st choice. Otherwise Direct TV( FSC+GOLTV=Good Times)

MLS is a fine league, enjoy it for what it is. No reason you can't enjoy both.

Try foxsoccer.com and soccerTV.com to find pub listings. I haven't looked lately, but Albany, NY probably has some. Same with Hartford.

In my opinion there are better leagues to enjoy other than the EPL. Just this weekend on the EUFA semis, Did you watch Chelsea vs Liverpool and then Milan vs PSV?

I disagree. With the exception of the top 3 in the EPL, I consider MLS teams a match for the rest of the division. I could easily see a number of MLS teams finish in the top half of the EPL.

HAHAHAHAHAHA To see them in the top half is an joke the best players from the MLS cant even break into consistent first team roles and that is the best players. Lets see one player in MLS put together consistent passes before we even consider this to be an slight possibility. Landon Donavon cant even kick the ball VS. Liverpool and they are fifth and lost to bottom clubs Palace. To even say an MLS team could play in the championship is an absolute joke. The MLS play is improving but it is light years away from the EPL. DC United should beat PUMAS before they could ever imagine coming over to play an english team.

A big difference between the MLS and EPL is that the pace of the EPL players is much much higher. Does anyone else share this viewpoint, or is it just me?

Is this the traditional soccer fan MLS is trying to lure now? You know, the vast untapped market that watches soccer in this country but won't watch MLS? Is MLS destined to be trapped between a rock (Joe Sixpack) and a hard place (This guy)?

I think its unfair for both the EPL and MLS to even be compared. Teams in the Premiership have been growing over decades to become the teams they are today while Football is just starting to be respected in the United States.
With 2 british teams in the semi finals of the ChampionsLeague that alone tells of the power of the Premiership, and lets face it Arsenal are still a better team than Chelsea & Man UTD are a bigger club than liverpool.
There are teams in the Premiership that are in the shadows of the top four but are still well respected. Lets not forget theres a team not even in the EPL that has a history as good as liverpool and UTD... Nottingham Forest
In everyway the EPL is getting better. Arsenal and liverpool are moving into state of the art arenas, Man U are expanding old trafford to 75k and Chelsea will soon be getting a new stadium. On top of that Newcastle already have a quality 52k ground and most of the other teams will be getting new or re-developing there stadiums
The Premiership boasts the most world cup 2002 and euro 2004 players.
Celtic and Rangers will be joining the Premeir League in the next 5 years and then the EPL may be cut down to 18 or so teams allowing for a even more competetive league
and on doing so the Championship-old division 1 will have better be stronger too.
Even the Championship is miles ahead of MLS
Footy is being respected now in the states and ill give it 5 years and i bet it will be on a par with basketball & american rugby then in 10 years itll be the leading sport in the U.S
Once this happens there will be a load of quality players playing in the MLS providing decent footy. but for a team to be respected world wide they need to have history and tradition which will take donkeys years ;)

I honestly can't see that teams such as Bolton, Crystal Palace, Norwich City, West Brom, Portsmouth, Southampton etc. etc. are better than LA Galaxy, DC United, NE Revolution etc.
On the opposite side to your point about Donovan there is Reyna who has been an EPL regular for years.
I would agree however that the MLS is nowhere near the standard of the teams in the prestigious UEFA Champions League which are the best in the world (including international sides).

There is nothing better than being obvious and a mirror BOTH at the same time. I am so sick and tired of having the MLS compared to EPL and other Euro-leagues. Blah blah talent, blah blah more exciting. If the US was a one sport country like every country in Europe, the US/MLS would be the world powerhouse of soccer. The UK doesn’t have much going for them except for “football” and tasty beer.
I'd say that for only 10 years of MLS existence, this league has improved dramatically in both play and talent. As the MLS grows, so does US dominance on the world scene.

I hear they have plenty of pubs in England. Go back.
And if you aren't English, go anyway.
