Do we have any decent players younger than Rooney?

I can think of Vaughn, Lennon, Huddelstone and Bowditch good players but hardly compelling stuff.

Theo Walcott at Southampton, Daniel Sturridge at Man City, Scott Sinclair at Bristol Rovers, Joe Garner at Blackburn Rovers and Mark Davies at Wolves are all supposed to be very big talents.

Also John-Paul Kissock at Everton and Hogan Ephraim at West ham.

My kid is 2 1/2 and has a killer right foot cross. Then again he qualifies for England or the US. Really it is a bit of luck that a talent like Rooney worked out. The difference between him and all the other phenoms is that you have already forgotten their names. Don't pin any hopes on a kid before 18 (and this is an American talking [see Freddy Adu]).

Rooney is two weeks older than I am and I have to say I hope he's the only youngin' for now because he makes me feel like a waste of oxygen. I'm sitting here marking milestones such as the ending of Law and Order for the season and he's making millions. How do I judge my life against him? ::sigh::

I'm sure they are out there, but in general I think it's best to let them mature in the youth sides and not throw 18 year-olds on the main squad. Although they might have the talent, I think they might not have the maturity, and it is a mix of the two that make the great players.
