Were they seperated at birth, even though one is black? How do you tell their voices apart? I think Allen's is a little bit slower and deeper, but not by much. They both generally talk in the same fashion like robots.

I agree completly, I can never tell who is who during the broadcast.

Ditto; I always have problems with this as well.

One overpronounces latin names.
The other has extremely long pauses because, despite having been around the game for years, he has little idea what to say next.
That's the only way I can tell them apart.

I agree...if I come into a game after the start it always takes me a minute to figure out which of them it is. After I do, I'll usually leave the volume up on Hopkins but turn down Bretos after his first annoying attempt at humor.

I was wondering if it was only me who noticed this...

That's weird ... I always thought of Hopkins as sounding a bit like John McEnroe, but I have never confused his voice with Max's.

I have the same problem a lot. But as soon as Max screams something in Spanish I figure it out right away.

Ok, who does what? I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Do they switch play by play and commentary roles during games?

Bretos always seems to have a smirk in his voice, somehow, so that's how I tell them apart.

More hayta's.
They both rule. Hopkins' game style is better, Max's color commentary is better.

I will actually listen very closely and try to determine which one of them is speaking. I'm wrong most of the time. Their voices are IDENTICAL.

Max's color commentary is better.
Max is soccer's Howard Cosell. He doesn't do play by play in the conventional sense. Whatever the role, the game is His Show.
Now, I happen to like His Show, but I can see how he is infuriating to those who don't.

It's easy to tell them apart.
One of them is a damn idiot!
