Nice job Patrick.
Stallman really has a Neyuu Yawk accent (he is originally from NY), and a grating voice to go with it. That said, the guy's a genius programmer, and the whole F/OSS world owes Stallman a debt of gratitude for the FSF, the GPL, and GNU (and tools, libs, utilities).
I agree with Stallman to a point. I prefer to use non proprietary tools whenever possible, for the technical excellence free software usually features, and for the free as in freedom aspect (as well as sometimes free as in beer). However, I'm not psycho about it. I'll use a proprietary software program if it fits my needs and the vendor is customer driven, offers a reasonable license, and is not a hedgemonic monopoly
(like MS ;) ).
I'm now going to check out the interview with Warren Woodford. :)

Nice job Patrick.
Thanks Jeff. He agreed at the last minute and we didn't get to publicize it at all. So far it's been downloaded over 1000 times and hasn't hit slashdot yet. My submission to slashdot is still 'pending' after 24 hours. They usually reject my submissions within 2 hours so we might still get in. If it does get posted this episode will easily surpass our current most downloaded episode (15,000 for Nat Friedman).

I agree with Stallman on a lot of the software issues. He makes some very valid arguements for the use of Free software. I totally disagree with his politics. When he claimed that this country was a fascist dictatorship I jumped in and told him to talk to someone who knows what living in such a country is like. We are no way near that. My mother grew up is fascist Spain and told me about some of the horrors of fascisim (or any totalitarian society). He completely ignored my comment. We did our best to limit his political rants and keep him focused on the technology side of things. Towards the end we asked some personal questions which he was willing to respond to. It sort of humanized him in a way I have never heard in an interview with him before.

Cool :)
FYI, next week we're having someone from the FreeBSD project coming on. Should be good. If you get a chance listen live and jump into the irc chat room. Some of the comments people make are very funny. You can also download the irc chat logs as well.

Personally, my politics lean slightly to left of center, but nothing close to Stallman's politics, which lean to the left of Marx. ;)
Anyway, Stallman should separate his politics from his free software proselitizing. He can do both, but should not mix both too much. He'll just turn people off that way.
Cool :)

I'll give that a go, depending on my schedule. Is it Wednesdays at 8pm EST? I'm going to give one of the BSD's a try one of these days. I'll probably go the wussie route and get FreeSbie, run it live, and then use it's Dragonfly installer. :) I just don't have enough time to spend on tweaking config files and such to get a working system that FreeBSD, Slackware, Arch, and others apparently require. Although, I do want to go through that process sometime, for the learning experience, and it is plain fun to work in the command line in a Unix style system.
BTW, I had trouble downloading the Woodford interview (it was coming down at 3.2 Kps). I'll give it another go today.

My favorite come back was when I asked him if he had tried online dating? Check out the chat log for some funny comments from the listeners:
