I would like to ask you all here
Will everyone from members her come to Germany for
the World Cup? Since I´m from Germany. I would like
to offer you all help her. You can ask me questions about
Germany, about good places to stay during the World Cup.
Recommendation for trips etc. You are giving me a lot
of information about american soccer and national team.
So I give you this special offer. I´m very curious how many
American will come to Germany. And the second question for
all here: What do you think who will win the World cup:
Germany or the U.S.A:). Only we both can win.
I will roote for U.S team until they don´t play against
Germany of course. And if we meet eventually in game
against each other, I will be for Germany of course.
I know German egoist:). But I will always roote for americans.
Maybe we just meet in Finale. It would be DREAM World cup
Dont you think?
Sorry my English.

I was planning to come. Then I saw how tickets for the world cup are being sold. I will not buy a ticket that I cannot resell if the U.S. loses. The price of tickets is also way too much.

All the other headaches of traveling to a foreign country would have been okay, but this is not.

I have ordered 4 USA TST-3 tickets for my wife and two kids (18 and 20). I've been to Germany twice before - once as a student and, in 2000, with my wife and kids. We have friends/relatives near Basel, Lindau, Nurnberg, and in Wien. I plan to stay in cities away from the games and visit friends and family between games. I'm saving up dollars and vacation time. I'll decide on train/car and exact stops after December when the teams have qualified and the schedule determined.

I suggest you check with antonio paz about getting match tickets after the 1st round.

You can get your 1st round matches for the usa, and assuming usa advances, it's in the best interest of the organizers to have usa fans STAY and attend matches.

So, I suspect some informal arrangement exists to keep fans happy.

The germans are very structured, but they aren't stupid.

Good idea from bltleo to assist usa fans with local knowledge!!

At the moment, my wife and I plan to go. I have been to Germany once before (20 years ago) after graduating from college.

However, I haven't done anything yet to plan. Need to get my act together. I will definately will be following up with questions in the next month or so...

Wait, you cannot resell tickets? Because my plan is to buy tickets when I get there? Is that a bad plan?

it's too early to know. they are saying the tickets are issued to a specific individual and cannot be transferred. whether and how that is enforced remains the big question. i still find it hard to believe that they will actually be checking id's at the gate, but there certainly is a risk that you can't sell tickets you've bought and can't buy tickets from others.

read the thread in the travel section. there is definitely some risk to go without tix. but it's unclear just how big that risk is....

antonio paz does the travel stuff for usa matches, and I'm sure june 2006 is high on his list, so getting to follow usa thru him, is fairly easy...

he does the work, you pay him....

also, since he's hooked into ussf, post 1st round usa matches should be readily available via whatever source he has...

don't forget the object is to get you to spend your money in germany...

you could easily end up with a sponsor's ticket, like BUDWEISER or some name like that on the ticket!!

Well I plan on going if I get tickets. I may have to eat the 1/4 final tickets if the US makes it that far depending on the schedule. From what I understand (assuming the US qualifies) if the US fails to advance from the group you still have the option of going to a round of 16 match anyway if you had that package. I can't believe they are checking the ID's of everyone either but if someone is willing to take the risk I have no problem of selling mine at a discount if I have to leave early

I do that with pleasure. I know it is too early to ask. Because many
of American don´t know if they come, if they get tickets etc.
But I was thinking since I´m German and live here and I like
American Soccer I should offer my help for all here. Yes you
are right we should see after the draw. Hope many Americans
get tickets and can see this fantastic soccer amosphere. World
Cup is simply something special.

I am a huge USMNT fan but I am also realistic. The USMNT has a terrible record playing in Europe. I think we have a better team than the last WC but I am not too optimistic about 2006. I know this is a little of topic but it is a valid point. Anyone know exactly what our record is playing in Europe in the last..say.. 20 years?

Oh are really many American so pessimistic about the World Cup?
Of course if they are pessimistic and they don´t expect that
USMNT will be successfull, no many American will want to come
to Germany. They would prefer to stay home and watch that
on the T.V. But I´m not so pessimistic about USMNT. Their
performance during World Cup 2002 was brilliant. And if you
says that the team is much better, then in 2006, I don´t understand
your pessimismus. Yes maybe your reputation and succes in Europe in say last 20 years is not so fantastic and U.S.A is not the Favorit. Maybe from
your point view. But I tell you something. Do you know about the
World Cup 1954 in Bern, in Switzerland. This time was favorite small
country Hungary. They played the best soccer that time. Germany
qualified for the World Cup, it was difficult after second World war and
no one expected that Germany will be successful. Do you know how
it ended? It was called "das Wunder von Bern" - Wonder of Bern
do you know why? Because german won the World Cup and no one
expected it. Everyone in Germany was very sceptic and no one
believed in this success. But they managed. And do you know why?
Because they believed in themself. They were optimists. Maybe you
saw the Movie: Wonder of Bern. I can really recommend this movie
to everyone. It is about World Cup 1954, great movie. It was one
of the best movie in Germany. I don´t know if you can get in the States, but I suppose yes. So think positive. Who know maybe 2006 will be for
US boys - "Das Wunder of Deutschland".

Yes I understand. Are many American not satisfied with this lottery system
of selling tickets?. Yes Germany is a bit expansive country, Euro is
expansive now. But thanks for your reply. I will definitely inform you
about all games to make the world cup more life for you.
