When was Uruguay's best performance after 1950 in your opinion?

WC1970 when they were semifinalists.

I'd say it was 1954. They went to Europe and they beat some great teams, including the highly rated English by a score of 4 to 2. Then they played what people at the time said was the best WC match ever, in an overtime semifinal loss to the amazing Magyars. It was Uruguay's first loss ever at the World Cup.

I'd have to agree with you.

I can't believe 1986 is even on the list - utter thuggery by that team. Had a player red carded in the first minute or so against Scotland. Though they still managed a scoreless draw, if I remember correctly.

I'll go with 1954 as well.

The 1986 team was scum but I've listed all of Uruguay's performances from 1950. To tell you the truth, some other performances weren't pretty either but I had just put them there regardless of anyones opinions.

Uruguay drew 0-0 against Scotland and Jose Batista got sent off after 55 seconds. Steve Nicol missed an open goal from what I've heard.
