I too can not resist the joys of Dr. Pepper each day. Which is why Clint is my favorite player of all time.

yeah, but those extra calories for the morphically challenged mean a couple extra miles after practice...
imagine rooney having mathis' habits........ahhh, do we really need to imagine it, rooney, will end up like charles barkley at auburn....
once 25 clicks around, those bad habits are double trouble..

Surely soda is better than all that beer that the English pros guzzle all the time?

i guess there are better quality carbs in beer though, which gives us all a good excuse to rehydrate with the extra calories!!

I know it sounds funny coming from Clint, but it is reality that soda is bad for you, and in Clint's case, likely materially bad...

I got off a soda habit by switching to flavored seltzer. It's the same as soda but without the sugar.

Talk about diarreah of the mouth, think that's all i'd to hear out of clint mathis for some time. Him and landon should work on playing more and talking less, even though clint shouldn't talk cause he just says some stupid things, landon just whines too much.

I love Clint Mathis!! Keep talking, buddy.
Clint and Landon will stop talking when reporters stop asking them questions. I wish they'd get MORE talking time, myself. Put them EVERYWHERE.

IMHO, Clint has pissed his soccer career away because he wasn't disciplined and he didn't want it bad enough. He'll be 29 in November. He's starting the downside of his career now. His choice, but one has to wonder what might have been.

He is a crazy SOB, you see what he did in the last game?
And you reed what he say about his favorite movie:
"Wow, it's gotten to the point where I watch all of the CSI's now. Whether it be the original CSI Miami, CSI New York, my favorite is the one in Vegas. I just like watching the detective side of it, and trying to find out about DNA and info about crime scenes."
He got a criminal mind....

I have been doing the whole weight-lifting, trying to get ripped and look like a greek god type thing for a while now. The only thing I have to add to this thread is that body-building is 80% of what you eat. Now saying that an occasional soda is not going to hurt you, but 2 or 3 a day is horrible. Do you know how many grams of sugar are in a single soda I think its 23gms? And remember that this is in 8 ounces of a soda not the 20 ounce beast out of the coke machine. Do the math and you can see why he has a spare tire around his middle.

I can't believe this thread. Are we really counting calories for Clint? I'm willing to bet that Bruce is not.
The fact is that Clint Mathis is not a fatass. He's a highly paid, professional soccer player and he trains every day. Whether or not he pounds a Dr. Pepper every morning does not make him a good or bad player.
Bobby Convey said in a U.S. Soccer video that his favorite restaurant is The Cheesecake Factory. Must be why he's not playing at Reading.
Come on people. These guys are professional player, they know the stakes. I'm sure Clint is well aware that he is 29 years old and his prime playing years are behind him. He has admitted openly in recent interviews that with the new crop of athletic players in the pool, his game (which has never been built around josh wolff like speed) may not fit into the current or future picture.
But Clint still has things which many U.S. players do not: vision, passing ability, a mean shot, unpredictability and most of all experience. It still remains to be seen whether Bruce thinks those things are enough to warrent a roster spot in the upcomming qualifiers or the 2006 cup.

As a fan of the US natl team, I am profoundly disappointed with Bruce's pouch. He symbolizes the "fat American" stereotype that we are known for around the world.
