No predictions, no expectations.

Here's hoping the boys come out and play for a change.

Bartlett out [maybe for the rest of the season].

Kishishev out [broken nose -- ouch!].

Now, I'm no Curbs, but if I were really wanting to shake things up, no matter the cost of victory or defeat, I might go with this lineup.

Andersen
Young - Perry - Fortune - HH
Sam - Murphy - Konchesky - Thomas
Jeffers - Lisbie

Subs: Kiely, Holland, Euell [as a forward sub], Fuller, Ricketts.

Have Konchesky stay home a little and push Murphy up the middle.

And I would tell my Addicks what I tell my U7 girls team. It's your ball. Go out and have some fun.

with no bartlett, kish, and el k I say put out a lineup like this that can attack:

young-perry-fortune-hh
romm-murph-holland-thomas
euell-franny

any tv for this one?

doug,

not a bad lineup. my only problem is holland. though i know he will play since he is captain, i don't think he should. he has been nothing more than a cheerleader lately. and we need someone to actually play defensive midfield.

plus, konchesky as a starter works quite well. he can play almost anywhere. so, if someone goes down, paul can move to a different position while someone else comes on.

i think it was good that thomas didn't start the last game. but it might have been better had he not come on at all. a day off. holland needs that too.

as i said above. no predictions. no expectations.

The bad form continues.

So, did we really play badly? Or did we just lose to a team that was better on the day or at least has our number [in the Prem anyway]?

Well, I hope Alan paid a close attention to the play of Jeffers and Rommedahl. Those guys were everywhere. I especially loved seeing Rommedahl running and he tracked back a few times to save Konchesky when Paul couldn't keep up.

We lost that match because of our back four. They really look clueless, tired, and slow. That seems to be our biggest problem and the only good thing is that El K's suspension is over. Unfortunately, we are really miss Luke on the right.

If we are to stay in the top half of the table we must beat Villa. It isn't an option. A point won't work.

to me it didn't look like they played all that bad really.

the first half was so choppy and never got a good flow going since the ref was calling everything so tight.

diouf's goal was horrible to give up, there were at least 5 addicks in the box to 3 for the trotters and they let diouf run unmarked to the goal.

kudos for not giving up and putting up some late scoring chances that fell short.

keep the 4-5-1 with jeffers up top and romm/thomas on the wings and they should start scoring more.

In the process of watching the recording of this match.

So far I have watched the first half. And Charlton got cheated at least twice. The hand ball call on HH was totally ridiculous. The Laws of the Game states clearly, "If the ball strikes the defender accidentally, no offence is committed." The ball was headed in by a Bolton player. A Charlton player then tried to head it down. It bounced up and hit HH in the upper arm. Yes, his arm was out since he was defending a Bolton player standing right next to him. There clearly was no intention in handling the ball.

Then later at the other end, Jeffers challenges Bolton's GK for the ball. There was a small collision. Their GK goes down and outside the box with the ball in hand. Technically he was handling the ball outside the box and should have been sent off. I don't understand what the Center Ref called because Charlton got a free kick just ouside the box on the spot where the Bolton GK was prone on the ball.

I also noticed how Nolan for Bolton was complaining about Charlton's elbows only to spend most of the first half throwing his own around out the Addicks.

Poor work by the ref cannot be an excuse, but Charlton should have had a PK and Bolton should not. At the half it should have been at least 1-0 Addicks, maybe even 2-0.

I have heard many say that Bolton are thugs. And now I see why. They seem to accuse their opponents of the very behavior they are displaying. Ugly.
