Bottom line Paco Casal, a crook of an agent in Uruguay and former soccer greats Enzo Francescoli and Nelson Gutiérrez's company GOL TV is suffering major losses. up to 50,000 per month. Paco owns Tenefield in URUGUAY and him and Uruguayaian great ENZO FRANCESCOLI created GOL TV for the USA. A meeting was held in Miami on ways to save the network... ALL looks dim for GOL TV.

Don't put too much stock in what the Uruguayan newspaper reports. The article came out in a leftist newspaper written by a reporter who utterly despises Casal and a cast of others associated with the channel.

The article also stated that VtV had layed off 40 employees in Uruguay which would definitely raise concern seeing the amount of people that were let go in one swoop. What the article failed to mention that from the 40 that were layed off, 30 of them were students or temporary employees that were just there to work during the summer season.

From what I've been seeing, with the new advertising that GolTV has been bringing in, plus the new shows and their signing with DirecTV, GolTV seems to be doing allright for now.

But when someone gets their information from a secondary sight like supergol.com, or futbolred.com (and all they do is paraphrase an article, most of these websites are not run by journalists), then you only end up getting a certain version of the story.

I sure hope GolTV does very well, in fact even increases its footprint and coverage in the future. I really hope it doesn't meet the fate of PSN.

OK, I found a link myself to somebody's BLOG about this. It's worded somewhat differently than the supergol.com article above. But as Aguinaga10 said above, there maybe some hidden motive behind this reporting.

As long as we keep getting our La Liga and Serie A fix with same quality (and maybe even addion of some other quality coverage), let the reporters write whatever they want to write.

The fact that GOLTV reached an agreement with Direct TV is encouraging. However for their long term prospects they are going to have to be available on every cable outlet to survive.
